contest Growdown Throwdown 2018 Yellow Brain Strain!

Thanks! This year I've been feeding them the Gro-A and Gro-B nutrients from Dutch Nutrients at about 1/2 - 2/3 strength. I only water with that about once every 1-2 weeks, otherwise straight tap water. What's nice about use the hydro nutrients for soil is that I don't have to adjust the pH, it...

An interesting development: It turns out my LED light is better than I thought. It advertised "growing thicker stems," which I thought was a load of crap until I compared my YBS's with each other.. The ones under the LED look incredible - tight growth, short spaces between the nodes. The same...

Thanks! Yours are looking great too, and we're not too far from each other - Glen Rock is within 1-2 hours from me. Hopefully this'll be a good year.. been warmer than usual so far. Also it looks like you have the same 4" square pots as me. Did you get those from greenhouse megastore? How do you...

    Fcaruana Glog 2018

Time for a plant update finally. Did some good work today - I potted up 30 of my best-looking anuum sprouts and finally got around to watering everything again, they've been drinking tons of liquids lately. Some of my solo cup plants are sucking the dirt dry after only a day or two, it's nuts.  ...

    Fcaruana Glog 2018

Great to hear! I'll be watching (..or I guess reading) haha   Nice, usually it's not too bad, and so far it's been very Spring-like despite it only being the end of February a day ago. More than likely you'll be fine, but we do have some crazy cold snaps randomly. Last year was really...

    2018 - The Farm

I'm also thinking.. coir is a completely sterile medium, meant to be used with chemical/hydroponic fertilizers. When you use coir you need to water with nutrients every single time and at the right pH. If you wanted to make it organic you'd have to ether compost the coir, add it to a soil, or I...

    2018 - The Farm

This blog is INSANE! Been following along and reading your experiments and it's extremely intriguing! Seems like you haven't really had much success at all finding a good organic potting mix, it's been getting bleaker and bleaker the more time passes. To be honest, I can't seem to see what...

Thanks Devv! It's gonna be a good one, it's already been warming up sooner than usual in NY so I'm optimistic. When do you think you'll be ready to plant outside? I'm trying to get my plants producing by late May/early June that way I can enjoy my pods throughout July before I have to leave...

Sure thing, glad I could advise! I love coir as I see such quick growth rates and can transplant straight into soil with no problems.

Hey everyone,   So something miraculous and unexpected happened this morning that filled me with excitement and I wanted to share it with you all.   This previous summer I had made 6 cross breeds of peppers that I was really looking forward to attempting to grow out.. however, when I made my...

Some kind of wild growing in Hawaii

Hm.. that does sound more likely. Sneaky bastards.. I could've sworn they looked like a chacoense or something but now that I'm looking at the stem that has the fruit hanging off I'd say you guys are probably right, it's a solanum. Out of curiosity, how did you know? Sent from my iPhone...

Some kind of wild growing in Hawaii

I thought that at first too, but the calyx is wrong. Too spikey, and the peppers face downwards and look like berries - all the frutescens peppers I've seen point up and are a little more pointy.

Some kind of wild growing in Hawaii

Hey everyone!   I was looking for some help identifying this chile. The picture was sent to me today by a friend currently working in Pahoa, Hawaii, which he says is like a jungle. To me it clearly looks like some wild species, but I can't identify it right off the bat - the white flower is...

Hmm.. didn't know it was a hydro grow! In that case the nutrient deficiency could definitely happen that quickly. Are you using calmag with your nutes? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So here is the self-watering tray I was using. They're reusable, just purchase the extra capillary mat that Chilidude linked and you can use these for years. I just checked Gardener's Supply website and it looks like they only have the plastic versions available.. not sure why. Maybe you can...

Actually this is just those 4-4.5" square pots sent to me by accident from Greenhouse Megastore. They came with the matching "Holder Trays," which they're sitting in (each one holds 15 pots). It's basically just a flimsy plastic tray with square impressions to hold each individual square pot...
