dan5505's 2015 Grow Log **Lots of Pictures**

Good question. This year has been an experiment. I'm growing the majority of my peppers inside on windowsills since my habs didnt do well outside last year. Must be the Montana climate. For the overwintered annuums, it seems like I have jalapeno pods much earlier than last year when I...

Not a Bell pepper - amazon seeds

If I remember, I'll post pictures when/if they start to flower.       Interesting.  I had 100% germination from the bell I bought.  I wonder if the variety and maturity of the pod causes the variation.

Not a Bell pepper - amazon seeds

Good to know.  Luckily, I started bells from two different sources, so I'm not completely out.  Earlier in the year I bought an unusually large and delicious bell pepper from the grocery store and decided to use the seeds from it.

Not a Bell pepper - amazon seeds

Thai makes sense.  Thanks guys!   I'll wait until the pods develop further before trying to narrow it down more.  I bought these back in December from Amazon and they shipped from China in a foil pack labeled "Bell".

Not a Bell pepper - amazon seeds

Lol.  On top of all that, I gave my mom some of these seeds.  Jalapenos are too hot for her.  Won't she be surprised when her bells turn into Death peppers.

Not a Bell pepper - amazon seeds

I learned my lesson the hard way.  I'm pretty sure bells don't grow erect and thin.  What does?

Why are supers hard to grow?

I figured out my Bhut germination problem.  I wasn't waiting long enough.  I gave up on a set of seeds and forgot about them.  Several weeks later I had a sprout.  A second one sprouted a week later.  I should have tracked when I first started the seeds because it took at least a month, maybe two.

Why are supers hard to grow?

I'm having the same problem right now.  I started a lot of varieties this year, but can't get the bhuts to germinate.  I've tried placing them on top of the water heater and on top of light fixtures with no luck.

    pruning Topping Sweet Peppers?

Well below.  I probably topped them way to early while they were still seedlings.  I was trying to get them to split or branch low on the plant.

    grow in clear cups

Cool!  Last year I grew a Hab in a 1/2 gallon milk container.  It worked fine but eventually grew quite a bit of green algae/moss due to the light transmittance.

Super Stripped Down & Improper Hydro Experiment

So I had an extra Aji Amarillo seedling and decided to try to create a kratky setup with what I have on hand.  I have never tried hydroponics, so I don't have net pots, proper nutrients, or rock wool.  But, I do have solo cups, tinfoil, string, Carl Pool BR-61 fertilizer, and epsom salt.  Seems...

The Serrano is turning dark and is continuing to bush out.   The Bell is also branching out after an early top/fim.   My Cayenne and Banana are just now starting to recover from my over watering.
