overwintering surviving the longwinter in the north

So you have some 12k lumens on each side and 8k in the middle. Think you could manage it depending on the number of plants and if you can manage to keep the temps comfortable.   If possible, make the surround surfaces reflectable. And for the flourescent tubes, I would try setting them up...

    Poop... Yeah this is happening!

A bucket full of digested slurry. You know, I'm the one who made you explain it in detail...but it doesn't sound that appetizing. lol Hope to see the results in a few months time--and I hope it looks pretty!

Interesting.   You're an expert at compost Cayennemist, so maybe I shouldn't be asking, but how do you plan on maintaining an even temperature throughout the whole heap? Think that would be a high priority since we're worried about pathogens in this case.

Awesome to see the avocado rooting (of course, your other plants look gorgeous anyway). How many years will it take before you'll be making guacamole from home grown avocados?

Late season 2014...or early start 2015

Argh, that would be heart breaking, to have a year's harvest torn out.   So I went out last night and transplanted some of the runt habs that I didn't have any pots for. They're pretty close to my place and it's on the way home from work so I can probably monitor how they're doing. Noticed that...

    Question about pollination

^ exactly. So given the number of seeds...you realize it's a great orgy.   [edit] oh yeah, stamens and pistils tend to mature at different times (but with an overlap of the fertile period in most peppers). guessing from my hand pollinating experience, the flowers on the annums I grow seem to be...

    breeding Another breeding question thread

I'm no expert and don't have much experience, but just from a theoretic/mathematic perspective:   1. Depends on what you were aiming for. If you want the most robust gene pool you would maximize the number of plant outs and cull the undesirable ones over hundreds even thousands of generations...

Blisters LED Coco grow has reached it's inevitable end...

Amazing how much growth you get in such small pots. Maybe I'll try coco some day too. And now I know where to come back for for info!

Late season 2014...or early start 2015

Yeah, I never really liked those Moroccan peppers, although glad to have them in my food when travelling. The people there seemed quite entrepreneurial and hard working. Wouldn't be surprised if word of mouth turned into something real.  ;)   Need to take back that comment on the weather. The...

Late season 2014...or early start 2015

So now that it put on true leaves, it has revealed its true identity as a mutant capsicum with 3 cotyledons and fuzzy stem at emergence. On the other hand, this is the real tea plant seedling:   not even remotely similar, lol.   Woah, that's expensive. The bulk is much more reasonable, bought...
