Now I don't know what it is. Heat and flavour are very habanero. All the pods look like this. They ripen just like a hab, green > orange > red. I did plant some habaneros this year but nothing that looked like this.
It is probably a hummingbird moth. They can be kind of freaky looking first time you see them. I agree with moruga welder & JoynersHotPeppers looks like a tomato horn worm.
It isn't very scary looking but this little beauty is the hottest thing I have had this summer so far. Colour is a bit off on the pictures. It is more orange than yellow. I blame the piss poor camera in my phone.
They look like they could be Ugandan or maybe Guadalupe habaneros. They do look very similar to some red savina habs that I grew last year as well, though this year that same plant is putting out red pumpkins so who knows.
I agree, the first few pods to set on my moruga look off, more like a 7 pot. The upper pods (round 2?) have the distinctive moruga shape. Only on one plant though the other 2 set proper looking pods right from the start.
