favorite Help me decide what to grow!

I highly recommend growing some annuums. Your list is a little heavy on chinense. I realize annuums aren't as trendy and cool as chinense but you will be truly missing out. KS White Thai and black cobra from your list should definitely be grown. Also, home grown jalapenos are just so versatile...

    pruning Topping your pepper plants

Topping doesn't benefit any pepper. If a pepper plant has enough space, good growing medium or soil, nutrition, and plenty of light, topping will reduce potential harvest. Topping is useful if any of those factors are limited, for aesthetics, in some cases ease of harvesting, and (in my...

issue Leaf curling downwards, newgrowths are deformed and brown at the tip and then turn necrotic

I'm by no means an expert of growing mediums. There are others that are really into the details of growing mediums and soil. The only commercially available (in the USA) growing medium I have not had issues with is Promix. I currently use Promix HP. I have to feed frequently with this medium...

misc How old is/was your oldest hot pepper plant?

Nice to see this thread revived! I currently have a Wiriwiri that is about to begin its third winter inside. It spent its first summer (2020) outdoors and was brought inside October 2020 and put into a grow tent where it has been ever since. It has been in the same growing medium and pot this...

chinense Is there a favored Mexican orange habanero?

I also miss the old fashioned orange habanero flavor...a lot of people hate it, but I love it! The oxkutzcabense (sp?) was a disappointment for me, certainly not bad at all, but not the flavor I was hoping. I got a standard orange as well from the same source but it doesn't seem to have the same...

    2022 Outside-In

Yeah it comes with the territory of being an entomologist I suppose hehe. My first thought is one of the Diadasia digger/chimney bees. The behavior sounds like it's a male patrolling the area for females and rival males.

    Jesse’s attempt at a 2022 glog

Set a Thai prik kee noo “rat turd” down for a second after repotting it outdoors. It certainly didn’t take any time for this bumble bee to become interested. I guess it’s no longer isolated lol

SKULLBIKER'S "Whats old is new for 22 glog"

Yeah Katydids are rather innocuous, as they are not present in large enough numbers to be an issue. They also don't eat a whole lot anyway and tend not to stay in one place for long.

    Curry peppers 2022

I would refrain from using any pesticides unless the aphids become severe. Of all my years of growing peppers outdoors in Indiana, aphids were never a significant issue, there were always enough lacewings, ladybugs, hover flies, and parasitoid wasps to keep them in check. Aphid mummies were...
