    pod Name these pods!

I already did. Just waiting on a reply but figured I would let others try their hand at identifying. Me personally am guessing two datils, three scorpions, three orange bhuts, and possibly a brain strain Big yellow ones are peruvian aji amarillo and two lil guys are datils. This makes me want...

vendor Ed Atkins (St. Augustine Hot Peppers) www.staugiehotpeppers.com

Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the conversation.   I messaged Ed asking about availability of different types of peppers and was surprised with a quick response saying that he would gladly send me a sample package free of charge. Pumped up I accepted and today guess what was waiting for me...

Warning to all gardeners: Do not kill hornworms!

Im destined for hell myself I guess. Recently I have had a major outbreak of HUGE horn worms and little black caterpillars. Now all of my leaves look like there is dirt specs all over the underside. Damn bugs are driving me crazy.

    Thick in the middle question...

Hopefully the title worked a few extra's into this thread but I have a really quick question. I have purchased plants that were only 5-6" tall and had a huge thick stalk straight from the soil that was already woody. My seedlings on the other hand are getting just as tall and full of leaves and...

sun Easy setup Sun Shade for the HOT Florida summer

Yeah, something I have learned since building it is that ACE hardware sells the shade cloth by the yard. Whereas Lowes sold it as a pre-packaged 6x15' roll. I am probably going to do at least the two long sides (north and south sides) in more cloth to try to cut the wind at least a little...

sun Easy setup Sun Shade for the HOT Florida summer

Everything included it was around 60 dollars at Lowes.     My problem now it the damn wind from all of these storms lately. I think I might end up putting more cloth on the sides to cut down the wind a little bit.

sun Easy setup Sun Shade for the HOT Florida summer

As a matter of fact, there was beer involved in the creation of this. I am considering wrapping the entire thing in shade cloth also. I dont know how much room for a table or anything i would have considering i will have more than 40 plants under there.   EDIT: You arn't too far away either. I...

Mine will I am sure once they are adults but right now due to my late start, most of mine just arn't ready for full sun. I have noticed that the more mature plants that i bought as seedlings are loving the hot sun except for the red savina

sun Easy setup Sun Shade for the HOT Florida summer

My back yard is facing directly west. So the house blocks most of the sun until about 9 or 10 am. then the shade is tall enough to let full sun in for about 2 hours till around 11 then its partial shade (says 75% blocked but i can guarantee that is wrong and its only around 50% blocked). Then...

sun Easy setup Sun Shade for the HOT Florida summer

Just wanted to share my new setup to try to combat the intense mid day sun down here in Northern Florida.. this setup still has the capability to have a small fence added around or more shade cloth if the south side gets a little to hot. I couldn't get too fancy due to the fact that we are only...

    Ph question for anyone

Thanks everyone for the advise. I think I am going to just leave it alone and just pot up and throw some cow poop in with it to fert. They all seem to be growing well right now so I dont want to mess a good thing up because of a cheap ole' tester.       How long does it take to have that test...

    Ph question for anyone

No its a cheap two prong tester that has light detecter, ph and moisture test on it.         I have been searching all around me in Jacksonville for ProMix. I cannot find it at any of the local nurseries that are around me. I wish I could though.

    Ph question for anyone

So my soil is testing around 8pH on my little 10 dollar tester from Lowe's. I have recently done a foliar Epsom spray as well as a small bottom watering with some Fish emulsion (5-1-1) since the pH check. Should I be concerned considering I am going to be planting up to their final bags sometime...

    Fupalooter's first year of learning...

New update today... I now have a handful of plants already potted up to #2 containers and quite a few getting close to being ready. I also have great results from the seeds I received from PepperJoe and now have a good amount of super-hots that are currently being hardened off.     The two tall...

    Ant attack!

I think a lot of them are ones that were in the cups already. As for rain, they are in the garage so it isn't an issue. Any ideas on how to get them out of the cups?

    Ant attack!

So I walked out today to check on my seedlings and found an army of ants all around and in the solo cups that the seedlings call home. I then decide to bottom water them all in hopes of flushing out the pests. While the table was clear of seedlings I then cleaned it with Lysol wipes hoping to...
