    seeds Germinating old seeds

Someone awakening from a 40 year coma is probably more likely. Maybe I can play "One" by Metallica on repeat to the seeds for the next 6 months as a form of scarification.   No worries. Thanks so much, I'll post again when I attempt to germinate.

health What is wrong with all of my plants?

I probably could have saved the super hots but ended up culling them because it was going to be too much hassle. The rest of the plants have survived and are doing well in the ground. They probably would be even bigger by now if I watered them more often which I will from now on.       The...

    seeds Germinating old seeds

They were stored in my grandmas basement for 45+ years, so who knows, the packet showed absolutely no sign of any water damage (although that could have been and gone in the last 45 years, lol).   No, the germination was not successful but I soaked them for too long in kno3, and neglected...

    seeds Germinating old seeds

Interesting. I'll probably try to germinate them after germinating all the other seeds for the season. Will have to clean out one of the mini greenhouses and keep the seeds in their own dedicated greenhouse.   Would temperature be an issue? I've been germinating chinenses at 87f with no issues.

They did not but I did forget to check on them and mist them. I'll try again in August while starting my peppers for the 2020/2021 season.

Yes the germination rate last year for pepperlover seeds was not the best.. but some did germinate!     Yes, I will be using a 3% KNO₃ with water solution and soaking for 24 hours. The orders took usually a month to arrive here, sometimes longer. It's still 8 months before the seeds need to be...

    vendor pepperlover.com

Ok, thanks, the fact that they came is relieving. The seeds I got last year from pepperlover looked older and the germination rates weren't the best but I did get sprouts,. I ordered more than I needed this year (100 seeds for variety and I need 2 plants, ideally that will be enough :P)  ...

    vendor pepperlover.com

Has anyone ordered from pepperlover lately? I placed 2 orders, one on the 8th of January and one on the 10th of January and haven't received shipment notifications for either orders. Last year the shipments were sent out a lot quicker (within a week).

    vendor South Lincs Chilli Boys

It honestly is a bummer, this vendor was going to be my go to along with WHP.   There is a new spot in the market for someone to emerge, imo. Let's keep our fingers crossed.   Big shout out and thank you to SL chilli boys for the 10/10 service they provided. I will be growing out multiple...

My orders arrived. It looks like SL Chilli Boys have taken some time off so you can't order for the time being.   Their website says "10 Seeds approximately per pack".   The seeds I ordered: Aji Cristal - ordered 1 pack, received 15 seeds. Fatalii Gourmet Jigsaw - ordered 1 pack, received 13...

I want to grow really large pepper plants next year in large containers. What are the largest pepper

I'm probably a bit late here but wanted to chime in anyway.   If you're starting from seed for the first time, try not to plan too far ahead. Growing peppers from seeds is a whole different game to growing plants you've bought. There is a massive learning curve.   You will make mistakes (and if...

seeds Crash course on growing seedlings in coir

Thanks very much for your response Solid7. In hindsight I actually already knew what to do before you responded :P but that has solidified my views.     I personally will pre-buffer any coco coir I use from now on, regardless of whether the packaging claims it has been buffered or not. There is...

Btw if any of my questions don't make sense due to my lack of understanding chemistry or if I haven't asked them in an understandable form please ask me to rephrase. I'm honestly trying to learn as much as possible about this media and any information provided is greatly appreciated.     Okay...

Thank you very much for the detailed response. Yes, the more I'm using coco the more intrigued I am. Being conscientious about it seems to be key.   I feel like you have a much greater understanding of this media than your post suggests and perhaps you're downplay the extent of your...

How often are you watering it? You should be feeding it with every watering, imo.
