    Vezena Piperka from Macedonia

Pretty sure that Vezena also means "sewn" or "stitched". I remember some of them giving a stubborn lingering mouth burn.   Edit: I've also seen Vezena crossed with Feferona, looked like a semi-corked cayenne. And i've seen it crossed with an unknown annuum, those pods were all shorter/squat...

    Carribean Red

The Caribbean reds have been around for a while, pretty sure it's considered old news by most chili heads now.

    Carribean Red

At this point it is a stabile and separate strain.

    Heater went out...

I think there's a good chance of saving them, but you'll have to wait it out.   Within a few days, or a week at most, you should be able to figure out the extent of the damage. (dead/yellowing branches, flower drop, etc etc)   If any fertlized flowers survived, they may produce oddly shaped pods...

Have you ever seen leaves like these on a pepper?

Purple stems on seedlings are pretty common in my experience.

seeds So when's everyone starting their seedlings?

Plant-out April 18th, zone 7a? Earliest i've heard, but i'm sure you're using a technique that works for you. I'm in zone 6b and anything planted out early May or before = weak compromised plants (a week of very cold rain is usually the culprit)   I stagger my seed sowing between early February...

    favorite whats your favorite baccatum?,

If i were forced to choose i'd say the Aji Chanca Yellow   For a few reasons, first it has a Baccatum flavor, then it has a complex "yellow" flavor. And when i say "yellow" i don't mean plain ole "citrussy".

Have you ever seen leaves like these on a pepper?

Even if it's just a genetic defect it might be that weakling plant that becomes a disease vector.

    Old seed viability

And depending on how they were stored, some will last longer than 10 years. I agree that seeds seem to prefer 80f or above for quick germination. 75f works for most, but certain types will take a long time to sprout.   Soaking overnight in a weak Saltpeter / potassium nitrate solution will...

WHATS THE WORST TOP 3 TASTING PEPPER'S EVER ?

Chinense's with that heavy petroleum taste and smell, which includes certain Orange Habs and some of the commercially grown stuff.   Certain ones with paper thin flesh aren't that great either, whether annuum, frutescens, baccatum or the ornamentals.

    Baccatum Cross or Cultivar?

Definitely post a mature ripe pod if you end up with one. As wildseed mentioned earlier, it does also look like some of the so-called aji amarillo lines, and a bunch of other Baccatum types for that matter.       Autumn bounties are well worth the effort imho, nearly a dozen Baccatum types in...

does anyone have a Pic +info on AJI LIANERO??

Thanks for the find.     Cool looking pods, bumpy up top, and smooth + ribbed and 4 lobes at the bottom.   Mild heat ones are rare too, i may pick this one up.

    Baccatum Cross or Cultivar?

There's more than a couple of strains labeled "aji limon" and that seems like one of them. Don't know if it's true or not because sometimes they are wishy washy with ID'ing and labeling.   That pod seems long enough to have some viable seed. The way to tell is after you've dried the seed, the...

    breeding How to prevent crossing

That's what i did this year, glued a few flowers shut off on each plant, then tagged them with colored yarn.   Even then, i still pack the seeds from each pod separately into their own baggie. Come 2014 I'll then yank and plant seeds from each and every package.   I still collect seed from open...

    pests First pests have arrived!

I saw an article where they laced cut-up potatoes with (i think it was) cheap pyrethrin insecticide, supposedly the larva go nuts over potatoes, eat it, then die.   It's been a while, but if i remember right, the article included pics of them gorging on it.   Edit: I just google searched "fungus...

    pests First pests have arrived!

Many of us been through the fungus gnat infestation a few times. Personally i've tried all of the easy solutions, and none of it worked long term.   The only thing that truly worked for me was BT (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) aka Mosquito Dunks. Ideally you would start with a gallon of...

    overwintering Winter is coming !

All of the above, mixed leaves and thin twigs (not from walnut trees though), manures, lawn cuttings if it's not filled with weed seeds, etc etc.   You can also throw in untreated hardwood mulch (the outer bark, some inner sapwood is ok), including pine bark. Avoid cedar and walnut.   Covering...

    water Tap water conditioner?

Can't remember where i read it, but the liquid form takes only a teaspoon to work on XX amount of gallons (i remember it took very little).   But if you don't want to proceed using guesswork then check out the next quote:     ^^^ 1000mg of Vitamin C tablets is enough for a bathtub full of water...

breeding My First Cross - TSM x Fatalii (Pic)

Nice plant and pods.   Is it just me, or is the pod shape unique?   The pods have "outie stingers" (think like an outie bellybutton) which would be a nice feature to stabilize imho. I would grow a few lines out to make sure the best features stick.
