    Plants dying after epsom spraying....

How big are your plants and what size pots are they in? Are they getting 15 minutes of sun a day because that's all you're getting where you live or is that all you're giving them? I'm no pro like some growers on here, but it sounds like they need a lot more sun unless you just started hardening...

Been looking at full-sized, green pods for a month now...

My scotch bonnet has had about a dozen full sized pods for about 5 weeks now, and just noticed 2 of them finally turning color today, so I know how you feel. Now my chocolate and pumpkin habs just need to change too and I'll be happy.

    Pee on your plants?

You're going to get ammonia regardless if you put urine in soil. Urine's mostly water, and then about 2-3% urea by weight, and the enzyme urease found in some bacteria in the soil will catalyze the hydrolysis of urea into carbon dioxide and ammonia. I think those bacteria can also act as a...

sun How important is direct sun?

Thanks for all the info. I have them in 5 gallon pots of straight Happy Frog so I know they drain well, but up until 2 weeks ago all I had to do was water them every 5 days or so and let nature do the rest, but now the heat combined with no rain is causing problems. Seeing as I'm getting minimal...

sun How important is direct sun?

When you say "better this year than last" do you mean the same plants as last year? I'm a very small time grower compared to most on this site (only 3 pepper plants this summer) and don't overwinter my plants, but I'm still surprised by how many blooms they're dropping. I give them a...

water Watering in the middle of the day

If my plants are wilted and the soil is dry several inches down, or my pots feel too light, I'll water them when needed, regardless of what time of day it is. If it's in the middle of the day I give them some shade for about 2 hours after watering so it won't evaporate too fast, but I've never...

sun How important is direct sun?

What about when the temperature is around 95-100F? I live in Charlotte, NC and it's been in the high 90s to low 100s the past few weeks and I noticed my plants dropping a lot of blooms in this heat so I started only giving them about 2 hours of direct sunlight a day. They're still dropping...

    Morouga Scorp - Not Hype

Haven't seen any stink bugs. Only thing I've had a problem with are aphids, which tore up a pumpkin hab pretty bad, hopefully it will rebound and give me some pods. My brother, who also lives here and grows as well, had an aphid problem too, but not as bad as mine.

    Morouga Scorp - Not Hype

Charlotte, NC? That's where I live. Good pepper growing weather so far this year.

    Repotting while flowers are forming.

I just repotted a flowering scotch bonnet from 2 gal to 5 gal a few weeks ago and all that has happened is it's dropped the first 5 blooms or so, which I think is normal for a plant the size of mine. I didn't mess with the roots at all, and no shock or anything.

    pests Dealing with aphid damage

I found aphids all over my pumpkin hab about 10 days ago, and started treating it right away but as you can see in the pictures, they did a good amount of damage. Now that I've killed them all (haven't seen any in about 5-6 days) do I need to trim all this damaged growth off? The few buds it had...

Newbie grower needing a little help

I have a chocolate habanero in Happy Frog that has been doing this all season no matter what I do. I finally repotted it and added some lime in with the soil, but so far only minimal change.

    Question regarding a rainy week

I have 3 plants (chocolate hab, pumpkin hab, scotch bonnet) in 2 gallon pots of happy frog, and they're all under 12 inches tall, but are really starting to take off, so normally I wouldn't think twice about leaving them out in the rain. But I started fertilizing them yesterday with the Foxfarm...

health Something wrong with this plant?

I sprayed it with Don't Bug Me last week and it hasn't gotten any worse but wasn't sure if anyone knew exactly what it was. Also, is it normal for the new growth on top to be wrinkled like that third picture? My chocolate hab is wrinkled the same way that but not my scotch bonnet.

health Something wrong with this plant?

This is my pumpkin hab, and it's been in a 2 gal. pot of Happy Frog for about 2.5 weeks now, and I started noticing these holes and spots about a week ago and was wondering if there's anything wrong with it. The plant is right next to a chocolate hab and scotch bonnet and they don't have this...

How does this potting mix look?

Potted all 3 in just HF last night in 2 gallon pots, we'll see how it goes. If it seems like they need more perlite, i'll add it when I re-pot them.

How does this potting mix look?

Thanks for the info compmodder and capsicum, I definitely won't use the mushroom compost. So would there even be any noticeable benefit to using the perlite? If not, I don't want to waste my money.

How does this potting mix look?

So are you saying that the Happy Frog and mushroom compost together would retain too much water? I've never used HF, but I figured using mushroom compost with it would give the plants an adequate amount of nutrients, and the perlite would help with areate and drain the soil.
