    aquarium T5's?

I've said it in other threads, but for the average indoor garden the spectrum of light isn't the biggest limiting factor. As long as there's enough light, then they'll be fine and I'd worry more about air ciruculation, proper wet/dry watering cycles and fertigation, etc. So let them say what...

    aquarium T5's?

I've never used the aquarium t5's, but I have used 10k mH bulbs made for them and they're wonderful for plants. Most of the light is in a useable range, the strongly blue light makes nice tight growth. I'd assume the t5's would be similar as they have to work under similar circumstances.

    MH to HPS

A lot of the time you won't really notice much of a difference as in a typical garden there's a bigger restriction/modifier to growth then the light spectrum, as long as the intensity is high enough plants will thrive and it's best to worry about other factors. Like fresh air, which people...

    Please Help - Sickly Sprouts

WIt could very well take up to a week to see an improvement, give them time and as long as they aren't getting worse leave them be. Bigger plants can take more stress, but if your seedlings were over-watered and the small root system drowned and died back, then it'll take awhile before it...

    T5 question

Compared to orchid growers, pepper people are pretty tame, the ego's tend to be smaller as well. ;)

    T5 question

I always say gardening isn't hard, it's just complicated to master. It's important for beginner's growing any new plant to realise that, like babies, they won't break all that easily. They'll adapt their best and do everything they can to live, just like any organism, so don't over-think and...

    Planting deeper question

That would make sense to me, this will be my first year growing peppers but in general for indoor horticulture it's important to have enough air circulation to stop powdery mildew or other fungi from growing. Unless you're really constricted by space an inch or two of stem won't hurt.

Weird leaves on some of my Tabasco plants

When you're looking for mites/pests be sure to check the bottom of the leaves as well as that's where a lot live. I always hold the leaf up against the light as I find it's easier to see the silhouette. Nutrients are either mobile (the plant can relocate where needed) or immobile. Mobile...

    water Quick overwatering/fertz question.

As a very rough guide that's true, but yellowing and dropping lower leaves can also be from not enough light. Fert problems will also show up all over the plant depending on the imbalance. Nitrogen (N or the first number on a bottle of fertilizers) is what will cause the lower leaves to yellow...

    Planting deeper question

Most plants actually have the ability to undifferentiate their cells, forming a callous of white cells that will then become roots. The harder the tissue, the longer it takes, but most stems will grow roots if buried long enough. The biggest danger is burying open wounds, increasing the chance...

    Gotrox 2013 Grow

Those seedlings are looking good, I see what you mean about the size difference betwee them and the octopus. I wish I could run plants outside, seeing as we just got a foot of snow dumped on us over the last couple days I doubt they'd like it out there much.

    First time, opinions wanted

My favourite ways to control growth is either low stress training (LST), where you tie the branches off the rim of the pot, pulling them lower as they grow up. Or by building a screen out of pvc tubing and a fairly wide mesh, then pulling the branches under as they grow too tall. I prefer...

    T5 question

There's two things to directly consider when setting light distance, the intensity and the coverage. Light intensity decrease's quickly, square the distance and divide by the number (ie. @ 2' it's 1/4 as strong as @ 1', @ 3' it's only 1/9th), so the closer without burning the better. The...

Thanks for chiming in. @ Phil: I also grew habs last year, other then being stunted by a freak hail storm in early july they grew well. It's the more tropical ones that I assume will struggle more. @ Gotrox: I didn't think about the different growth rates, I can either use screens to train...

I'll be starting my first serious pepper grow soon and thought I'd run my plans past everyone first. I'm open to any and all opinions or critiques, especially as I really don't have any experience with hot peppers. The strains I was planning on growing are: chocolate bhut jolokia & habanero...

Hello, My name is Jacques and I'm a chilli head... It started as a kid, daring each other to try Dad's hot sauce and grew from there. Last summer it came to a head when my gf brought back jolokia paste from australia, since then I haven't been the same. People now say I have an crazy gleam...
