chinense ** Post Your Ghost **

Choco and Red Ghosts. Interestingly enough, 2 ou tof 3 of the plants put off the more straight, smooth ghosts, where as one puts off severly gnarled and wrinkly ones. The Gnarled ones seem to turn out hotter.

    2015 Pepper Hauls

May June   There was another huge harvest in there but I didn't take pics, went straight to processing   July, so far   I've eaten or processed 100% of them. Gave a few away too. Well over 1000 pods, and somewhere around 20lbs.

    Slade122's 2014 Greenhouse GLOG

Did much work over the weekend, especially around the yard. Finally got everything tamed, trimmed branches hitting the shingles on the house, cleaned up all of the edges.   As promised, some pics of the plants. Hit them hard with some higher PK, should see a good amount of flowers popping up...

Thanks Juanitos, I've been liking the coco so far. These things are definitely keeping me busy.   It's been a while since I last posted. Been pulling quite a number of 12-15 hour days. Then going out in the yard and taking care of things like watering and fertilizing. Mowing the lawn after 10PM...

    Slade122's 2014 Greenhouse GLOG

Alright, so adding up the totals, I've picked 726 pods for a total of 9lbs 14+5/8 oz.   I spent several hard hours over the weekend re-potting my plants up to 5 gallons.   Here is what my growing medium looks like after it's been mixed. I went through 8 bricks of coco, and 2 giant bags of...

the pots are bigger than the bags? why not just bigger bags? like the rigidity of pots better? Yes, the bags are 2 gallon, and I like rigid pots better, plus the 3 gallon size increase. Tired of the tops of the bags folding over. Just made it back from orlando. Plants were a little wilted when...

Well, it appears the flood is over.   I moved all of my ladies back outside. They appeared to have grown quite a bit in the greenhouse.   Just picked 2lbs and 7/8 oz today. Still have to count all of these, my guess is over 130. EDIT: Ended up with 166 pods. Total is 4lbs 15 and 5/8 oz.  ...

    Slade122's 2014 Greenhouse GLOG

The flooding continues.   Plants are looking stronger this week after stagnating for a week or two. Yellowing is starting to fade back to green, plants are much more perky. Still getting decent production, although flowering is slowing. I'm still working on building the nutrients back up...

Outdoor hydro - large picnic cooler as reservoir?

I live in Texas, and my outdoor hydro systems perform well even it the hottest summer months.   I use a single air stone per reservoir with a large air pump. I just use simple storage totes as my reservoirs. Not beautiful, but they work for me.   I have three types of systems, one E&F with...

    Pollinated?

It looks like the fruit has already successfully formed.   Sometimes the petals fall off, other times they die and stay stuck to the pod for a while as it grows.   If pollination fails, it's likely that the whole stem for the flower will fall off rather quickly after failing.

    habanero??

Looks habaneroish. But not exactly habanero. No pepper is a bad pepper, even if it isn't genetically pure. Grow it, and it might turn out killer. My habs hang pendant though, that one looks semi-pendant. Could be the position on the stalk though with that knot there.

    Slade122's 2014 Greenhouse GLOG

We had another flash flood with 5 inches of rain. More scheduled for 4 out of 7 days this week. Plants are staying in the greenhouse until this stops. Yellowing seems to be dissipating a bit. Was finally able to fertilize today and get my deficiencies worked on.   Yet another harvest   63...

Define expense. I installed a drip irrigation system ( pics in my glog) a couple of years ago and the total investment wasn't that much at all and sure makes things simpler. I even piped in a auto fill for the hydro reservoir but that isn't currently in use. I know it's not too expensive...

    Slade122's 2014 Greenhouse GLOG

Thanks Guys, I try to stay organized so I can find the pods I'm looking for and so that the plants have the highest chance to cross polinate with one of their own. However, with this proximity I believe that cross pollination between varieties is inevitable at some point.   The number of...

looking good, you hand watering everything? Yes, hand watered ATM. ultimately they will be drip fertigated when I reach the point that I can justify the expense. We've been unusual amounts of rain and flash flooding the past couple of weeks. It's getting so bad that I've got calcium and...
