    Potting mix questions

I did fluff the bale of peat up before I used it. When mixing I used equal parts 1 5 gallon bucket of fluffed peat to 1 5 gallon of compost., so I'm confident the compost to peat ratio is pretty equal. I'll add a 4 cu ft bag of perlite a little bit of lime, unless the ph on that test looks fine.

    Potting mix questions

It was a compressed bale. If I add a 4 cu ft bag of perlite should that make up for what I didn't add in the beginning?

    Potting mix questions

Did a quick PH test this morning to see if i was way off. Used a cheap test i had laying around not too reliable but it still gave me a general idea. Thinking i should add some dolomite to it later today.

    Potting mix questions

probably made around 6 cubic ft used one whole 3 cu ft of peat, in total I have about 75 gallons give or take. I made sure I didn't, I ended up going to 3 different stores before I found the 1 cu ft bag of epsoma "organic" perlite. Also I've been told peat is acidic should I of added dolomite...

    Potting mix questions

So I decided to mix my own potting mix this year for my pepper plants. I tried to keep it simple, just wondering if this ratio was going to work or if I needed to go back and add something else to it. 1:1 peat moss to compost, added 1 cubic foot of perlite, and about 5 cups of tomato-tone...

pests Broad Mites or some other pest?

Agreed with edema, I've read that letting plants dry out too much then saturating them with water can cause the roots to wick up more water than the plant loses through the leaves causing the cells to grow and some times even burst.

    pests Stinkbug Damage?

I think I might try kaolin clay too because I can't seem to get these things under control I keep noticing more bug and soon after the leaves on my plant start getting light green areas where the bugs were. I just hope they don't kill my plants before plant out.

    pests Stinkbug Damage?

I thought so too but I hadn't fertilized them or even used Epsom salts when the signs first started showing up. originally I thought I had a magnesium deficiency, but it wouldn't hurt to lay off the Epsom anyways and see how things go because I could be damaging them more if it is burning them...

    Hello From New York State

About 2 and a half years ago I lived down by the bmw dealership. Currently living in Ithaca so still only about an hour away and I visit that area quite a bit, most of my wife's family still lives down in that area.

    pests Stinkbug Damage?

I hope you sort out your stink bug problem, I'm starting to hate them even more now that you've explained what they're doing to my plants. I found about 10 on one of my yellow brainstrain plants and it just looks rough now. I live in an old house so I kill a couple dozen and it seems like there...

pests STINK BUGS I hope they die in a fire

Would diatomaceous earth keep them off the plants? or will that only work for soft bodied creatures like slugs and stuff?

pests STINK BUGS I hope they die in a fire

I am actually trying to combat these annoyances as well, I think they have been feeding on my seedlings. I killed at least 200 of them in one day with the vacuum when I discovered where they were hanging out but hasn't seem to stop them totally, if you find a solution to your problem please let...

    pests Stinkbug Damage?

I have been trying not to show my plants "too much" love but it seems like it's one thing after another.  I have just recently had an insane stink bug infestation, I literally found about 50+ behind one curtain just hanging out, and the occasional few on my pepper starts daily. I have noticed...

    Lucky Dog Pink Label

I love extremely hot non-extract sauces, this sauce isn't one of those but what it lacks in heat (for those who eat extremely hot things regularly ) it makes up for in flavor ten fold.

    Lucky Dog Pink Label

Oh wow that stinks, I think I use garlic in everything. I have not had any of the other Lucky Dog Sauces but the Pink and Black Labels defiantly have garlic in them but the garlic isn't overwhelming so you might like them, no one flavor is overpowering which is very nice. If you liked the Black...

    Lucky Dog Pink Label

I recently purchased some Lucky Dog Hot Sauce after reading all the amazing reviews on these forums and elsewhere. The one that I had seen being talked about the most was the Black Label and I decided I'd give it a go, well I thought I might as well get the Pink Label too being an extra hot...

    Healthy or sick?

Quick update. I bought a soil tester and tested the soil the soil ph sits around 6.8-7 had good amounts of  phosphorus and potash oddly enough I got a low or no nitrogen read, and I did the test twice. I already water the plants deeply today so should I let the be or give them a diluted mix of...

    Healthy or sick?

Haha yeah I know the Styrofoam doesn't look the greatest but it was the cheapest thing I could find. I just gave one of the plants some Neptune's Harvest fish and seaweed I think it's 2-3-1 just to experiment. I did just check the soil and it was bone dry all the way to the bottom, to the point...

    Healthy or sick?

I had the plants in coco coir before the happy frog. They all have been doing great until about 3 days ago then it kind of just started happening, I actually have a few plants that are going crazy and even throwing out new shoots. I was told by the guy at the hydroponics shop that the FF ocean...
