Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Excellent! The first flower has set fruit. I also like how my tent smells like flowers now. Here's my clone/seedling setup. A simple desk lamp over a humidity dome. I am currently cloning basil, Mimosa Pudica, a downed TS Butch T, and in the back left, a pumpkin seedling.

Clones you mean? Yeah, you can totally propagate the shoots if that's what you mean.

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Thanks! I came home today, and found that the mini pepper within the flower has enlarged. The petals appear to be withering as well! I'll get pics tomorrow. As for pollination, it seems like the electric toothbrush method has worked for me.

I'm hoping to get pods out of them. I don't think pollination was good though, no signs of growth yet. I might have to wait till the next few flowers.

Closeup of the flowers. Left one has been pollinated days ago. Is that a pepper I see? One to the right has just been pollinated.

Does Ghost Pepper Produce Fruit in

My Bhut Jolokia plant is a first year plant, beginning the bloom cycle atm. I see at least 8-10 unopened flowers, so I hope they all set fruit.

A Ridiculously Improvised DWC Hydro Setup. (Now a grow log!)

It's been... one week 2 days? That's 9 days. I have some burning and distorted leaves on my old leaves, but the new leaves are fine. The roots are now happily hanging loose from the pot, some fuzzy, some long and slender.

First bud has opened. Many more will follow!

Shigshwa's Grow Log 2015-2016 (Hydro Grow of Carolina Reapers)

Week 10, day 70. Repotted them in 2 gallon Air Pot lookalikes, and a 2 gal Smart Pot. Interestingly, the site I ordered from gave me a free .3 gal Air Pot with my order!

    Single leaf with red patches?

Makes sense! Living soil provides the plant with nutrients by converting organic materials, right? I suppose, start using fish fertillizer and bone meal? lol

    seeds Purple seedling

I second that. My Bhut Jolokias start out purple, but become green as they grow, where my Butch Ts start out green, but develop a purple stem and veins as they grow.

    Single leaf with red patches?

That's true. I want to ask, do chemical ferts have any adverse effects on the soil organisms? I heard that it kills them, but all of the articles I've found are from sites that deal with organic ferts.

breeding A couple of C.chinense hybrids

Excellent! I'll look forward to seeing how it all goes!

    water Hydro Water Temp?

Well, the warmer it is, the less oxygen it holds, if I remember correctly.

    Single leaf with red patches?

Soil amendments. Dolomite lime for low pH, and I don't know about high pH.

seeds Seedlings with Redish/Purple Tint on leaves, causes?

Correct, nitrogen for vegging, phosphorus and potassium for flower/fruit.

    lighting New (to me) lights

I think it's fine. Metal halides are around 4000K anyways. I don't think it would make much of a difference if you switched.

    Single leaf with red patches?

How do I do that? pH meter?

    Growing Light

Well, in general, the more lights, the faster they grow. Spectrumwise though, I don't think there is much of a difference in growth between 5500 and 6500K.

seeds Seedlings with Redish/Purple Tint on leaves, causes?

Those cfls look ridiculously close to the plants. I would place them at least 4-5 inches above. But if the lights don't seem to affect the plants, it could be a nutrient issue.
