    2019 - Raised Bed Zone 9B Glog

Planted out my tomatoes and a few peppers today. Was going to wait a few days more for hardening off but with the overcast forecast, decided to risk it. Hopefully plant out a few more peppers throughout the week.

    2019 - Raised Bed Zone 9B Glog

Started hardening off the taller plants and tomatoes. Getting too tall for my lights and will have nice weather over the next few days. Going to leave the others another week or two before hardening off.

    2019 - Raised Bed Zone 9B Glog

Getting my bed ready for plant out....pulled all the weeds, spread out a bag of compost and worked into the soil. Got this attic vortex blowing though this week, but will try to plant out some of my taller plants next weekend.

This was a freebie from refining chiles, I have never tried this before. It was a late add but looking forward to the variety.

    2019 - Raised Bed Zone 9B Glog

After many many adjustments trying to get my temperature right at seed level, i have finally gotten 10 of 14 to germinate. Next year i will definitely be getting a thermostat for my heat mat, it fluctuated from 75 to 100 degrees, but now it seems to have settled in at 83 degrees. Will update...

    soil-media Soil temperatures too hot?

Today makes day 8, have 3 of 15 popped up. I changed methods from using jiffy pods the past couple years so of course I am over analyzing every aspect of it and the fact that they are not all popping up makes me make adjustments even when not needed. Oh well its a learning experience and will be...

    soil-media Soil temperatures too hot?

You remove plastic cover after a few days, do you find you can control evaporation long enough for seeds to germinate?

    soil-media Soil temperatures too hot?

Short term I added another towel on top of mat and cut slot in baggies to not over heat, soil temp sticking around 80 now. Added some additional seeds into each pot in case the prior were damaged. Fingers crossed.

    soil-media Soil temperatures too hot?

I planted them Friday, 5 days ago, none have popped. The soil under the bag seems pretty moist. This my first time using this method, have always used jiffy pods prior.    The ones in the back are not yet sowed, saving for tomatoes later.

    soil-media Soil temperatures too hot?

Thanks for the all the advise. Added a folded towel above my heat mat, will take temperatures this evening. My other question is how long do i wait to re-seed, if i damaged the current ones?

    soil-media Soil temperatures too hot?

Im currently using a seed heat mat under my pots for germination. My soil temperature is running between 90-95 degrees. Is this too hot for germination? Ive seen between 80-85 is ideal. Can they be overheated?
