pod-i.d. Now my "Black Aztec" are turning green.

Hey Sulsa, you are my hero . Well I reckon the mods can flag this one as "solved" once someone gets round to it. I wonder why that link didn't turn up when I tried googling "Azteco" a couple of months back 🤔. Maybe searching in German and having my VPN set to United Kingdom confused my...

pod-i.d. Now my "Black Aztec" are turning green.

Thanks CD , I see I still have more to learn than I have time left on this planet 😅 . It's late evening now in Germany, and I had to spend quite a while tending to my plants after a long journey home, so I reckon I'll sleep on your reply and see if I can understand more of it in the...

container-growing Larger container to save leggy plant?

So I finally realised I was going to update 😁 . As you guys all suggested, the plant was sturdy enough as it was, and has grown well and borne fruit - that's it in the middle of the photo about 4 weeks ago. A few of the pods have now started turning green, which makes me suspect it may not be a...

pod-i.d. Now my "Black Aztec" are turning green.

Sorry, must have hit the wrong key there and posted half a question  . Came back today after having been away for a few days, and found that a couple of the pods are now turning green. Since they are still absolutely firm, I reckon they can't be over ripe, and are in fact still going...

pod-i.d. Now my "Black Aztec" are turning green.

Got yet another one from my local hobby grower which I think may have been mis-identified 🤔 . She had it labelled as "Azteco", which after some serious googling, I decided must be Black Aztec in English. I have already harvested and enjoyed quite a few of these, but I left the pods I had...

pod-i.d. Mystery pepper mixed with Reapers

In my "Is valgin a thing?" thread, the not-quite-definitely-identified peppers are now strongly suspected to be cascabella, and are longer and more conical than those in your picture. Mine started off a pale yellow - thought for a while they were coyote zan - but have definitely ripened to red...

    plant-i.d. Is "Valgin" a thing?

@ jgundo - or anyone else who has harvested ripe Cascabella peppers. Just before we finally put this ID attempt to bed, is this what they look like when you open them up? There must be somewhere around 100 seeds in this single pepper, all packed tightly around the placenta.

pod-i.d. Are these scotch bonnet peppers?

As you can see from the peppers in the foreground, mine came in all shapes and sizes last year, and they were all from the same plant ;)

    plant-i.d. Is "Valgin" a thing?

I guess this pic pretty much screams "Cascabella" then. The three in the foreground are the ones whose flowers I isolated to make sure I have "pure" seeds for next year. Do you reckon I could already harvest the seeds from the fully red ones, or is it better to wait until they are almost falling...

    plant-i.d. Is "Valgin" a thing?

You know, jgundo, I think you're right on the money here, but I suppose I'll know for sure if and when they turn red ;). I have eaten a few at the cream coloured stage because I actually thought they were fully ripe, and I found them really tasty. Now I'm reading that, although they are fully...

    plant-i.d. Is "Valgin" a thing?

Well whaddaya know? After nearly 2 months on the plant, instead of going from a creamy colour to bright white (as a Coyote Zan should) they are starting to turn orange. I have no idea yet whether they will stay like this, or maybe darken to red, but I'll no doubt be posting yet another picture...

plant-i.d. Got another plant whose name doesn't exist

Plucked and sliced one today. My opinion was that it was like eating a thin walled bell pepper - i.e. absolutely no heat - but the wife assured me it had just a slight bite. Either way, we both enjoy the occasional stuffed pepper, so they certainly won't go to waste :D.The little red ones are a...

plant-i.d. Got another plant whose name doesn't exist

Since there are plenty of pods on the plant, I reckon I might just harvest the biggest ones sometime in the next couple of days and do a taste test. Beats the heck out of having to wait for them to ripen, and might kick the plant into "ripening mode", since the weather has taken a turn for the...

plant-i.d. Got another plant whose name doesn't exist

Thanks for looking and replying, CD 👍. Nothing for it but to wait and see the final result then 😁.

plant-i.d. Got another plant whose name doesn't exist

Just noticed this morning after the rain that the pods are quite a bright, glowing green - almost fluorescent - just in case that might give anyone's memory a nudge. No sign of any colour change yet... 🤔 .

plant-i.d. Do Trinidad Scorpions change shape as they ripen?

Thanks for that, copper. The plant is actually about 60cm, but it IS in a big pot 😅. I think your assessment could well be right, as the local woman who sold me a few "mystery" plants also sold me one simply labelled "Italian" which looks very similar to it. Here are a few pics for comparison...

plant-i.d. Do Trinidad Scorpions change shape as they ripen?

Well the pods on my "Definitely Not A Trinidad Scorpion" plant have started to ripen. They are just over an inch long, and as you can see from the new photos, they grow skywards in clusters. No idea about the heat yet, as I just noticed them this morning, and don't necessarily want to eat an...

plant-i.d. Got another plant whose name doesn't exist

Hi Folks, the private seller I bought a few plants from sure doesn't seem to have much of a knack for getting the names right, although I must admit to being impressed with the plants themselves. Now that my "Pazeko" plant has a few decent sized pods on it, I'm hoping there might be a chance of...

    soil-media Mushrooms in the soil

Well that's that particular question taken care of. These 2 photos were taken this morning, just over an hour apart 😅. I guess the sun came out 🤔😁
