Artificial light for entire growth cycle?

You're quite right. I completely forgot about that forum. If any mod sees this, feel free to move this thread to the correct forum.

Artificial light for entire growth cycle?

Thank you TXCG! Great reply with a lot of information.   I had a successful indoor season last year but this year I've got more plants that I have room for, thus the plan to try to grow a few plants under artificial lights.   HPS does seem to be a very good solution but the heat is a major issue...

Artificial light for entire growth cycle?

As an indoor grower I'm constantly battling space and am quite limited in the amount of plants I can grow during a season while supplying them with sunlight.   So this season I'm thinking of trying to grow a couple of plants solely under artificial lights, from seedling to flowering to glorious...

Another 4 hooks today:   2x Habanero Mustard Habanero Cappuccino Habanero Pastel     I can already tell that the lights are a major difference for the new seedlings. The first hooks from a few days ago have developed a lot faster than the hooks I got a month ago that solely relied on sunlight...

One more hook today, Habanero Pastel. So that's 5 out of 12 seeds so far.   Still no idea what is going on with the CGN21566 and Paper Lantern. It looks like the leaves are turning purple but the Paper Latern shouldn't have purple leaves as far as I know.

Yesterdays hooks:   Luciferino:   Douglah Billyboy:   Today I woke up to one more hook, White Giant:     Yesterday I started noticing that the leaves on the CGN21566 was starting to darken... I did some quick searching and came to the conclusion that this is normal for this strain, the leaves...

Plan is to keep them but it all will come down to space. I'm up to at least 23 plants right now, which is more than I have room for. But if I try to have some under light for the entire season I might be able to do it(+ add a couple more maybe)

Even though it's only been about a month since I planted the first seeds I've come to learn a bit more about this whole growing chili thing.. You never stop learning, right? :)   Starting seeds in January is not really an advantage where I live since the amount of sunlight is quite limited. Last...

glog 2016 is Ohjay's year of the habanero

It's been really slow going here in the cold northern hemisphere... Most days have been overcast and very little sunshine which has affected the growth of my little chili plants. On the flip side we're now on our 3rd day with brilliant sunshine and the plants have been growing a lot during these...

Great start and nice selection! We started almost at the same time(1 week difference) and my plants are not nearly as developed as yours, but I presume you're using an external light source for your plants?   Good luck with your grow!

glog 2016 is Ohjay's year of the habanero

Judging by what I've seen in other glogs I can tell that my progress has not been as good as people who use light fixtures and such things. I rely solely on sunlight and my little seedlings aren't growing as fast as they are for other growers. As of today I still have no true leaves on any...

We finally have liftoff! Or.. groundbreaking, or whatever you want to call it  :fireball: My first seedling broke ground monday night and the winner was the Hab Antillais. A close second, about 2 hours later, was the Aji Melocoton.   This shot is from yesterday when I woke up, a lot more...

Thanks all!       Yeah Light MIx basically has no nutes whatsoever from what I've read so I have to make sure the plants doesn't get too few nutes. Sounds good though that you managed to avoid pests with BioBizz soil. :)     I doubt I'm even growing 10% of all possible Habs. :) Just the other...

Thanks everybody for the replies and the kind words!    It's interesting that some things don't change. Just like last year I keep checking my plant station 10+ times every day hoping to see a little seedling, but I know it's days before they will actually start showing. Guess I'm just...

glog 2016 is Ohjay's year of the habanero

Last season was a great learning experience as a first time grower and hopefully I've learned a few things to make this season even better. My main let down last season was the relative small harvests I got from most plants. Granted, growing indoors and it being a bad summer didn't help, but I...

    disease-pests These are aphids, right?

I might try biological predators next season if I happen to get aphids again. Although I'm not sure I'd want a ton of ladybugs living in my apartment ;) The growing this year is almost at an end and I still have an aphid problem but it won't affect what's left of the season I reckon, I just...
