consistency Use the strained pulp or toss it?

I haven't used it yet. I'm thinking putting it into salsa to rehydrate it. It seems it should be pretty hot so I hate tossing it.

    harvesting My fantastic season!

I document everything, it's just my nature. I just gave the bottom line. Heck, I could tell you the day I started seeds, transplanted each time inside, then outside and how many pods were picked off each plant on the date it happened! The highest harvest came on the last day of the season due to...

consistency Use the strained pulp or toss it?

My strained sauce was fully cooked, ran the hand blender until liquified then I strained out the solids. There was not much, maybe 3 tablespoons.

consistency Use the strained pulp or toss it?

It is pretty hot but could be hotter. I made a sauce 10 days ago with 15 Brown Morugas, half white vinegar and half Pineapple Juice, it made 3 5 oz woozies unstrained. Now THAT one is pretty hot!

consistency Use the strained pulp or toss it?

Some pulp can be pepper flesh but it is also pith and seeds. Sometimes I like a watery sauce like how Tabasco is, typically I don't strain the finished product. When I did this time, I felt like I was tossing some good heat.

    harvesting My fantastic season!

I've grown hot peppers in many past seasons but this year was a bit different. On the deck in 3 quart pots I had 2 7 Pot Cinder, 2 Trinidad Congo and 2 Brown Moruga. In the garden I had 2 Trinidad Congo, 2 Brown Moruga and 2 Fatalii that I started from seed in February 2020, grew in pots for the...

consistency Use the strained pulp or toss it?

I made a hot sauce the other day from Fatali, Trinidad Congo and Brown Morugas. After cooking them soft I used a hand blender but unlike most of the time, this time I strained the sauce and saved the pulp. It's dried now and I was wondering does anyone add this to salsa or chili or anything? It...

heat Do cold nights have a detrimental effect on pods?

Thanks but no way! I had 2 Fatalii plants in pots on the deck last year, they are the 2 in the garden right now. I was bring them in on cold nights and they had Fungus Gnats in the soil. I found an easy way to kill them but it took about 10-14 days so no plants are coming in. I have too many...

heat Do cold nights have a detrimental effect on pods?

Thanks. I didn't know peppers will ripen off the plant once they start to get color. I know tomatoes do, it's called the breaker stage. The green Trinidad Congos and green Brown Morugas I used had pretty decent heat and at this point I am resolved to accept that I have just plain run out of...

heat Do cold nights have a detrimental effect on pods?

This morning and Friday mornings were the coldest forecast for at least 7 maybe 10 days. Going forwards, it looks like it could be as low as mid 40's by sun rise. The Sun is so weak at this point I doubt it is doing much for the plants. My 6 plants on the deck in 3 quart pots (2 Brown Moruga...

heat Do cold nights have a detrimental effect on pods?

Nights are getting cold, down to the low 40's and even upper 30's is possible. I have a lot of pods on Brown Moruga, Fatalii, Trinidad Congo and 7 Pot Cinder that are both unripe or starting to change color. The Brown Moruga and 7 Pot Cinder have been very slow to ripen pods in the warm weather...

    off-topic Where is bhuter?

Yes I saw that because before I posted I checked his screen name. Hopefully he will return. I don't spend much time here, most it's for research, but he struck me as a wealth of knowledge and a prolific pepper grower. I bought a SFRB from him 2 or 3 times looking for Super Hots. I saved seeds...

container Questions about two 1 year old Fatalii pepper plants in containers

Yeah I am thinking that they probably won't live beyond this summer anyway, no over wintering again. They have a huge head start being so large so putting them into the ground in late May should yield a lot of fruits of normal size. I'm thinking that is my best option, not what I planned but it...

container Questions about two 1 year old Fatalii pepper plants in containers

These pictures are of the smaller Fatalii.   In both sets of pictures, some healthy foliage and yellowing is shown. Also, I tried to show the size of the plants along with the lower half of each plant.   I hope this helps. It is the best pictures we got and despite the size (3MB) in the folder...

container Questions about two 1 year old Fatalii pepper plants in containers

OK here are the pictures of the larger Fatalii. The tape measure is at 24". I have no idea why these are sideways! I rotated the 1st image and it uploaded the same way.

container Questions about two 1 year old Fatalii pepper plants in containers

Yes the walls are straight but see the indentations? I was trying to save the 2 containers. I can cut them but then I don't have something to put them in. Yes I can buy 2 containers but....   Anyway I have pictures to upload. They are 2-3M in size... is there a size limit on uploaded pictures. 5...

container Questions about two 1 year old Fatalii pepper plants in containers

Thanks for the reply, I know a picture can mean a lot. My sister is stopping by today, maybe I can get some pictures. The shape of the Folgers containers has indentations so they are not straight walled. I tried to pull them out but no way do they even budge so due to that it is impossible to...

container Questions about two 1 year old Fatalii pepper plants in containers

I don't have a digital camera or phone so the best I can do is explain using measurements.    Last March I started some Fatalii seeds and got 2 plants. One is in a Folgers 39 oz plastic container that measures 5 1/2" X 5 1/2", the plant is 27" tall with a 32" wide canopy. The other is in a...

    Curious, is it worth it?

Yes it is the Gronk, his picture is on the label. I need to stop buying hot sauces, I make my own and they are a lot hotter than what is in the stores except any of the Dave's, those are crazy hot, no flavor just heat.
