It really matters where you live. For me, it was not warm enough outside until about the middle to end of May.
I started my super-hot Chinenses too late (end of March), but all the other types were good.
I used heating pads to keep the seeds and seedlings warm. After the seedlings had...
No I haven't. That would be hard to do since you will have to check the plant every day. This is the first time I've done any ripeness testing.
I grabbed some very young and some just before color change. So, I would guess what I go is an average heat. Also, this is just one plant.

From what I can tell, after about 3 or 4 hours at 40C, it's done and it doesn't matter how long after that. These were in the 40C oven for about 14 hours (overnight). The main thing is too little time is an issue, but I don't think you can "over extract." I think other solvents or methods...
The results are in! Everybody wins! These results are from about 25 pods of each color randomly picked by color (red or green) from only one plant to see what the difference in ripe vs. unripe would be.
I guess it's real, at least to me. I was too busy today to set it up on the HPLC, but soon I promise. If you guys have other ideas of things I could test let me know and I will see if I can do them. One thing I have been wanting to do is test drying temperatures vs. SHU. Everyone says if...
they don't look like reapers to me. I have some Butch-T's that look a little like those.
my Butch T's (they do look a lot like Bhuts):
my first Reaper:
The Bhuts I have are smoother looking than yours.
I don't understand the hybrid/crossbreeding thing much, so I was wondering if you can see the first years fruit being a cross of nearby peppers. Is this possible or is it the seeds that are formed that are the crosses?
Thanks! --Tom
I have some Butch T scorpion plants (lots of Bhut shaped pods on the plant also) that are producing like crazy, so I thought I would test something I have never done before but wanted to...the heat of ripe(red) versus unripe (green) pods.
So I picked a bunch of green pods at all stages and...
From a lab rat's view the red moruga holds the crown for consistently being above 1 million. The hottest has been some CPR or similar thing at 1.8 million. As far as tasting goes all of these kick my ass -Tom
Warning! Don't send your super-hots to me because most people are disappointed! ;)
"Only 1.3 million! Damn it, I got divorced and lost all my money over this Big Black Lip-Raper pepper and only 1.3!" -- Quote from angry customer
My first impression is white ghosts.
I use Photobucket. You upload pics to your account via computer or the app. Just copy the IMG link under the Share This Photo section and it works like this... (see the white ghost also)
