pics Opinions please Bhut Jolokia vs my Burmese Naga ?

These days a lot of crap is being passed off as Bhut Jolokia, but my standard has always been the seed that the Chile Pepper Institute sells since they've kept the oldest strain in North America (that I'm aware of). Always isolated. The pods are huge, best I've ever grown.

flavor What would be your Greatest Hits of pepper flavors?

Freeport Scotch Bonnet, Bahamian Goat, Cappuccino Habanero, pretty much any red baccatum, Ghostly Jalapeno, Suriname Yellow, Trilop UcBurun Biber, the classic Tomato Pepper, orange annuums,.. those are a few top flavors for me. Oh wait, the CGN 21500 too. 🌶️🌶️

news Pepper X Officially takes the title

I'm so sick of this guy that I can't even reply anymore. We've known more about him than this post for a decade and I just have to deal with the fact that this charlatan isn't going anywhere. Doesn't hype. Okay, Hot Ones was no hype. Ed is a marketing whiz. Pepper scientist he is not. Good...

news Pepper X Officially takes the title

Maybe. But I'd rather have a dentist work on my teeth than a dental student. Call it a preference.

news Pepper X Officially takes the title

Guinness doesn't do testing of its own and the fancy certificate says it was tested at Winthrop University (the same place that verifies the Reaper all those years ago, oh and that was done by students) in August so the data is out there somewhere. Heck, I should just email the University...

news Pepper X Officially takes the title

His history with literally everything shows that he is more than happy to do and say things that skirt truth. He knows now that the people who are on his side will keep him going no matter what comes out. My only point is, let's see the data. That's an extremely unlikely test result from any...

news Pepper X Officially takes the title

The fancy Guinness paper mentions Winthrop University but I can't find any data anywhere. Does anybody have a link to the tests? I feel like something this big would be public somewhere. I mean, not that I've ever seen any data on The Reaper, or a consistent story as to it's parents. Anyway...

For what it's worth, I did a video about it a couple of years ago.

    misc JalapenoGate

We have experienced wrong grows for years, I wonder why this was such a big thing this year. Do we have more new growers than ever maybe? Because of demand for plants (which I love, everyone grow chiles, please and thank you) maybe seeds and strains just got thrown out there to satisfy demand...

chinense Is the stinger trait from Reapers and Scorpions dominant or recessive?

Maybe cross it with something better than a Reaper. Go back further. Then again, I have never seen a consistent story to the Reaper parentage so maybe just stick to some good ol' Scorpions! 🌶️

favorite If you could only grow "one" superhot ?

So mine would be something called "Maha X" that I got in a box in 2015. I tried tracing it back and came up with dead ends. I still don't know what it is but the flavor was sweet, not floral, and every seasoned grower I know that tried them agreed it was the most unique super they'd had. I don't...

flavor Pepper with the strongest citrus flavor ?

People say the Lemon Drop but I find the pith of c. Baccatum to be soapy so it skews my input. However, the Suriname Yellow/Madame Jeanette absolutely tasted like a dang lemon to me. It was tremendous. 🌶️🌶️

chinense I'm confused about the Datil pepper

From my understanding, and even back in Andrews first book, the "truest" Datil is the second pic from the OP, that pointy one. Now, like all of us, I don't know for sure. I grew some in 2014 and they looked like the dimple bottoms. Even the image in Chasing Chiles (great book about tracking down...

    annuum Challeano.. Really an Annuum?

"Aji" is really the old Caribbean language of the Taino and it just means what we call pepper or chile. It doesn't mean Baccatum specifically as there are C.chinense that are called Aji Whatnot (and more). To say "Aji Pepper" is just like saying "pepper pepper" , my spicy brotha!
