Leaf tips browning and leaf drop. Disease?

I suspect my pepper plants, but also tomatoes and eggplants have some form of disease/pathogen. They start healthy and then at various growth stages, the leaves turn brown at the tips and then the leaves drop. The plants never recover.   Pretty sure it's not under/over watering or over/under...

    Plant turning light green.... help!

I've seen similar symptoms in some of my pepper plants, especially the choc hab pic. In my case it was either a lack of calcium or a mite infestation. With the mites, the leaves started to curl and look a little crinkled and new leaves became deformed. Plus, there was bronzing on the underside...

Hey heating up - yes rice husks allow for good drainage and moisture retention.   Enjoy the growing Nwtnorthman!

    soil Soil additives

Hi Nwtnorthman,   You haven't mentioned which area of the world your are in, but if you live in Asia or an area where rice hulls/husks (not the rice grain) are easily available, then use that. I live in Indonesia and use around 50-60% compost, 10% (goat) manure, and 30-40% rice husks. Rice husks...

    seeds Paper towel germinating

How long are they now? I have found to have better luck if I wait until the 'tails' are at least 5mm and as long as 1cm. Sometimes when I plant seeds with tails only 2-3mm, they don't sprout. But as long as they tails seem pretty strong and not weak then they should be fine.

Leaf spot on one variety (Pimento)

Oh yeah, what do the underside of the leaves look like? Are they green or a darker colour? Any brown patches? Any fine webbing?

Leaf spot on one variety (Pimento)

I'm not an expert, but that does seem like it could indeed be a virus or fungal infection. You're quite right to quarantine it as if it is a virus/fungal infection, it could well be contagious. It doesn't look like fertilizer burn as that usually affects the tips and edges first. I would...

    Shorerider's 2018 season.

Looking good, but unless my laptop colour scheme is off, I can't see any purple coloured peppers :)

Yellowy green leaves and brown marks underside of leaves. Help!

Ok I'll see if I can find a loupe or a cheap microscope - whichever is cheapest. If there is still no sign of bugs, then I guess it's a fungal infection. Thanks for the input.

    Speckled yellow chili leaves. Cause?

I'll look into building a temporary bamboo cage cover. See if that helps. Thanks.

    Speckled yellow chili leaves. Cause?

Hi Chilidude,   Yes it's not very healthy, but is flowering and fruiting very well. Yes I did fertilize it every 2 weeks with granular NPK 16-16-16 before it flowered. Now I fertilize it every week with a soluble high Ph and K fertilizer. It's still the rainy season here with very little direct...

    Speckled yellow chili leaves. Cause?

Hey there Peppermania,   Thanks for the reply. It did cross my mind overwatering could be a factor, especially since it is the rainy season here in Indonesia, but the plant isn't displaying typical overwatering symptoms. I checked the soil to see if it was waterlogged, but it seemed fine...

Yellowy green leaves and brown marks underside of leaves. Help!

Hey there!   I have a different issue with another variety of chili. Again, this is a plant I bought locally. The leaves are yellowy/green and don't look very healthy. They also seem to curl upwards at the edges and have very fine webbing on the underside of the leaves along the middle vein. The...

    Speckled yellow chili leaves. Cause?

Hey there Hot Pepper Community,   I recently started (since Nov 2017) growing peppers (and other edibles) and would like to ask some advice about one of my Thai/bird's eye pepper (not 100% sure of variety) plants. I bought the chili plant back in mid November 2017. In retrospect it was not the...
