    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Current total 236 peppers, 888g. Still plenty of green ones left on the bush.   I have four jalapeno bushes in the greenhouse as well, this year I've gotten 833 jalapenos totaling 12.2kg.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Here's today's pick, and I photo of all the ones I've stored - doesn't count the ones I've given away already. Plan is to combine these with chipotle and make a sauce. My plant has been trimmed a couple of times, they've reached the 2.2m or so roof of the greenhouse. I have to trim the jalapenos...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

That's pretty huge. Mine is tall but constrained to about 1m by 1m to fit in my moderate sized greenhouse.   Do the fruit go off if they stay on the plant? I've found that with jalapenos you need to pick red fruit within a few days of it ripening or it starts going soft. The citos are more waxy...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Current total of 46 pods so far, 183g. Only the bottom 1/3 of my plant is flowering so far, but the other older peppers in the greenhouse are going crazy with fruit, this one can't be far along. Many, many green pods.   I decided to count and weigh my jalapenos as well, I've wondered how much I...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

I have much the same scissors. My pods are 3 - 5g, but I'm getting fewer ripening than others, only 1 - 3 per day. The jalapenos have exploded though, they get more sun.   What is everyone doing with these? I freezing them to put them into a chipotle sauce to make it more spicy for some friends...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

I think it said "lucky dip" but can't really remember what of. I think they were pretty hot though. I guess I'll find out if they flower and fruit.   I'm picking a few a day as they ripen at the moment, and about 10 jalapeno per day. I'll check in occasionally.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Can anyone help identify these peppers? They were sent to me labeled "Viper or Reaper" by @KAOS.   The main feature of two of the three is the red line down the stem of the plant.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Two pods, 10g :) The plant is 2.5m tall and has maybe 100 - 200 unripe pods, and all varieties in my greenhouse have just started to ripen as the weather hit the summer peak.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

No ripe pods yet, all still green, but the cito plant is about 2m tall in the greenhouse and has dozens of green pods. It's unfortunately not in the best position, stuck behind a huge row of 2.5m tall really thick jalapenos that steal a lot of the direct sunlight. I'm hoping it's going to ripen...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

No pods yet, but many flowers and I expect them to start to develop before long.   I build a bamboo support system for them, featuring duct tape. I can add more cross supports easily if I need to. I might do the same for my jalapenos: some of them have 3 inch wide trunks, are 2.5 meters tall...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Hey NZ guys, what do you recommend as supports for these chillis? I grow in growing boxes 40 x 60cm using hydroponics, the soil is at most 20 cm deep so can't support much, and the greenhouse has a concrete floor. This and this might work, but I was hoping to do something like a stake in each...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

I have mine in a full sized growing box now, it's coming along better. It's just started to bud. Bit of a slow start here, but my greenhouse is fantastic for growing chillis, and the semi-hydroponics tend to work well, so fingers crossed for the end of summer :) I'm just about to put better...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Yeah they're almost rootbound already, the pot is mostly full of roots. I've put one into a 90L growing container with my semi-hydroponic growing style, it'll take off from there. Those other ones in pots will go to other people this weekend.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Mine have just gone from a small plastic container to a growing box in the greenhouse, hoping they take off from here. No buds yet. I suspect they will start to catch up a bit now though.   I've giving most of my seedlings away to growers in the neighborhood.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Mine are still fairly little. I have a few in the shed on a heat mat, under a standard light bulb, and a few more out in the greenhouse. It's still pretty cold, and I don't have any fancy equipment / boxes / lights to help. I figure they'll take off when the weather improves.

That looks a little like a fungus, powdery mildew. Not sure it's that though.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

@KAOS @karoo thanks for that. I already have what you described Kaos, a light on a wire hanging from the ceiling, 12W warm white LED. I wondered if an LED grow light would help more?   Reason for low budget is I don't raise many seedlings in winter, I just wait until it warms up, push them into...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

My chilli seedlings are coming along ok, first set of real leaves out, but they're a little yellow. I'm watering with a weak fertilizer solution, and I'm putting them outside occasionally on nice days. Most of the time they're in my shed under a standard warm white LED bulb, sitting on a low...

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

I mostly just poke seeds into the soil of the containers in my custom made greenhouse. I rarely start seeds this early in winter. I still have jalapenos ripening.

    2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Wow there are some fancy setups here. I just put the plastic container outside in the breeze when it's sunny, that's my fan.
