    Weather in S. California

I haven't posted in a while. Here is an update on my situation here: Record Cool Weather in California "The fruits and vegetables, the tomatoes and a lot of the citrus and things like raspberries are not ripening up because it's not getting hot long enough," My plants have not grown nearly as...

Dang weather is driving me NUTS!!!

Weather has finally warmed up here so I'm getting good plant growth, but I am still way behind where I expected to be by now. My scorpions are under a foot tall, but at this point I think I will allow them to flower.

Dang weather is driving me NUTS!!!

I'm in S. Calif and I'm still bringing in my plants at night. It's still often in the low 50's and at times mid 40's. I don't need to bring them in to protect them per say, but I'm trying to give them as much heat/warmth as possible. Even so, they are growing very slowly. I'm not looking forward...

    Massive budding

I think it would be worth a group of stunted pods on one plant to see the results thru to the end. This is interesting.

PLANTS DOING GREAT NOW YELLOWING BAD PLEASE HELP!!!!!

As simple as it sounds, all my yellowing problems were the result of too much water in dense, poor draining soil, or, not enough water in quick drying soil. Adding nutes to my dense soil only compounded the problem as I was adding more water. I have become ruthless about drainage and a mix...

    fertilizer Fertilizer question?

Everyone has their own preferences, which is why you can't find a consistent answer. I prefer a balanced organic, so a high NPK value isn't important to me. I want something that will vitalize the soil and make it so alive that the plants can draw everything they need from it - not simply the 3...

fertilizer need a fertilizer recommendation - for foliage growth

Neptune's fish/seaweed is excellent, the best I have used thus far. It will help keep your plants green and healthy, and grow at a healthy pace. I water and spray with it.

No green thumb this year so far :(

I'm in the hills of S. Calif, and weather has been a bit wacky this year. I'm only using natural light, so out in the sun in Jan & Feb scorched the plants. Hard to believe sun could be so intense so early in the year. So I lost quiet a few from that. But the nights have been cold, often between...

    Plant stress

I severely stressed cayennes and Thai Dragons one year and couldn't tell any real difference. But wife says I have a severely traumatized tongue, so how would I know?

    How Cold is Too Cold?

Slow growth I can live with. The weather has been wacky this season, and the plants have been growing slowly, but they are growing. Is Stunted growth more the norm?

    How Cold is Too Cold?

Is was not supposed to be so cold last night, but the temp got down to 43f, and I didn't bring the plants in. How cold can they get and not be harmed? Most are only 3" high or smaller, all in cups. What are the long term implications for seedlings getting this cold?

    El Nino must be destroyed!!!!

I feel your pain. I sun scorched a whole bunch of plants in jan/feb, but had to bring them in at night in march. Last year april was in the 90's here. My weather widget says 43 tonight. It's nuts.

    whats causing this????????

I had the same problem with many, many of my small plants. I thought maybe they got too much sun, or not enough water. I began watering deeper, giving only partial sun (sun can get pretty intense here, even in winter) and using fish/kelp nutes regularly. They are now green and healthy.

    water Distilled water?

Regarding Rain Water, after a rain here in Southern Calif, there is a sticky yellow/orange gunk left behind. It may not be acid rain, but it sure doesn't look appealing, and I do my best to protect plants from the rain. Who would have thought...

S 510 Would Make it Illegal to Grow Your Own Food

Didn't mean to stir up a fuss. Total Food Control is coming, if not with this bill then surely down the road. Various countries will all fall in line with the UN with things like Codex Alimentarius. As far as growing your own food, few have the ability to grow enough to sustain themselves and...

S 510 Would Make it Illegal to Grow Your Own Food

I have been hearing about this for awhile, and thought it would be a long time before finally becoming law. But considering how crazy this country (and the world) is becoming, anything seems to be possible  http://foodfreedom.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/s-510-is-hissing-in-the-grass/#more-1828

    Fade's Grow Log 2010

I have found that spraying w/fish based nutes leaves a nasty taste a lot of bugs don't like. Haven't seen any bugs since I began using it. No more soapy water, oils, etc.
