    seeds seed case problem

I put a little drop of water, or spit :P, on the end of my finger and touch it to a seed cover that seems stuck so it gets moisture. The plant then pushes it off easier.

    Anybody Grow Garlic?

Yeah I grow garlic. Put it in the ground in fall, just really anytime it gets cool but before the ground freezes. It does best for me when I mulch with grass clippings in fall. I don't peel the paper off the bulbs. Be sure you cut the scapes off in early summer, the bulbs will be smaller if...

    Sugar Snap Peas

I always soak my snap peas in warm water for 24 hours before planting, it really helps them get a good start. Typically I do this by putting them in a cup of water and setting the cup over one of the furnace vents in the floor, so warm air occasionally blows across it. Last year I grew Amish...

    seeds seed starting question

I always use plain well water, or bottled water for seedlings, and one of the soilless starting mixes like Ferry Morse, ect. Seedlings come out of the gate with all the nutrition they need, and too much fertilizer, either from buildup in the soil or too much at one time, can damage fragile...

Buff orpingtons are great birds, I have a few myself. Pretty, friendly, and can withstand cold nasty weather. I also agree with the backyard chickens site. I am a member there, it has everything you need to know about keeping chickens.

Last year I started my peppers first week of march and they were huge in 16 oz cups by the time I could put them outside, which was like May7th or something here in Iowa City. What size pot do you end up with? Those seedlings look very very nice! The only hot pepper seeds...

    seeds Matt's 2010 Garden list/seedlings

Hey! Do you have the garlic planted yet? I find it does really good in Iowa, but I have always planted it in the fall. I grew kale for the first time last summer, I was pleased with how it did, it was still hanging on until we got our first real winter storm.

    Hello from Iowa

Hello folks, I stumbled into this place on my quest looking for bhut jolokia seeds. I received a bag of those fine peppers a while ago from a chance encounter with a pepper fiend and have been hooked ever since. I don't know why, but I really get a kick out of inasity levels of hot spice. I...
