misc It's not a pod! FFS

When was this renamed and how many times? CARDI used 7 POD going back nearly two decades and that is who I trusted over some generic tale. Maybe they were the first to rename it? I have never seen a discussion on that, only on which was proper. They obviously didn’t get Paul Boslsnd’s memo on...

It appears to be a wintered plant, do you notice a smell inside with older plants? I have never grown one longer than the typical 7 months here.

Good stuff. They have been receptive of some stuff but for some reason not other things that I feel would greatly help them with low funding—and specifically the Andean Clade. there is definitely some stuff that needs addressed there in terms of C.geminifolium. Things that the monograph has only...

I offered some data to Carolina Carizzo Garcia from the hybrid I made back in ‘20 during the study but they weren’t interested. :think:Interestingly enough, one of the phenos ripened burgandy while the others went red. The work you and others are doing with the interspecific crosses I think...

    pests Fungus gnats!

@Marturo The ecosystem appreciates your non-peat stance. It’s still organic material though and that is what they want. Maybe a full perlite grow would fit that narrative but that is a lot of work. @RedtailForester I have only had them once and it happened from getting lazy with my growing...

Setting up is frustrating. Add in flowers and intermediate stages of development and it exacerbates the stress. I use a metal strainer, too. Smash with cold running water, then just tap out onto a towel or plate.

I always stay safe-ish,amigo. The Solanaceae count on Quintaroo is weak so I had to move around a bit. It was a snorkeling trip but difficult the plants I like in the water. Hope all is well in the PNW.

I understand that game. If you didn’t swear 3 or 4 times during this process you are a bigger man that me.

SOLD! Heading that way in the AM. This region is weak for Solanaceae.

    misc Capsicum Flexuosum

I’ve seen success in aubergines and tomatoes both crossing and root stock but not peppers. The small size is dominant and not ideal.Which pepper species are you referring to? I have yet to see any benefit in using crop wild relatives in pepper breeding other than aesthetics.

    misc Capsicum Flexuosum

Cut your starting temps for cultivated species of peppers by 5 F and let it rip. Everything else is exactly the same. Don’t sow the whole lot and if they haven’t germinated in 40 days try one of your soaks on the balance of seeds. I will belabor what @cmpman1974 says here. When a lot of the...

container Questions about Growing C. pubescens

Those are just generic names. Turbo was quipped because they are easier to grow to maturity. There is very limited diversity with these so the flavor and quickness to fruit and ripen will be more dependent upon your growing techniques rather than what the name is.Your small podded varieties...

container Questions about Growing C. pubescens

Just grow them like you do your other peppers and you will be fine. Bigger grow space will equal bigger plants and later fruiting. Smaller grow space will equal more watering. Pick your poison. Just use some shade cloth if they look stressed or give them some type of shade. They are endemic to...

    ChilliCrosser Crosses

Looks very lancey. In the other thread the new growth was lighter green than the typical bluish colour of lanceolatum which made me think it was possible. Any glandular trichomes on the stem and cots. Diagnostic of C.rhomboideum but not lanceolatum. Wish it was easier to tell at that stage. Good...

Paul,I think you can probably grow those outside in your zone for just about the whole year. I am in 5a and have taken my in 2 or 3 times overnight when it went into teens. If you keep the container from freezing solid for prolonged periods of time it will be fine. Even a few times freezing...

I hope you have success. I have photos somewhere of my attempt. In the end I let the seeds go for 30 days and then tossed them as it was spring and everything was going outside. C.rhom and C.lance overlap in situ. It's amazing that rhomboideum stretches from Mexico to Southern Peru...
