Slightly late, but I think these will be ready within 60 days. By that time the ground will be good and warm. March 23 Planning to up-pot not not more then 72, with about 1/2 that being Carmens and Zapotecs. I may be a lazy gardener this year and plant-out more peppers than tomatoes. jjj

I moved my manzanos to a some south-facing windows. They still look crappy. Considering a weak dose of nutrients. They are just hanging. Still haven't started the rest of my peppers. Maybe on Sunday. That would give me 6-8 weeks until plantout. My gardening of all degrees has been lack-luster...

Good Idea, Canedog. I've got good pair southern-western corner windows that will work fine.

Hey, CaneDog. They are forking and setting buds, most of which I'll pinch. But the flowers are just so darned georgous. I may have to top them since they're are growing so well. My shelves are geared to shallow. 5 instead of 4. Let have some yellow in the leaf. Could be over-watering. The...

Moving up. Most of these have been ready to transplant as singles to 3x3x deep pots for a while, yesterday I got round to it. I only made up 18 total. Beth Boyd's Scotch Bonnet's made the prettiest cluster of plants. First year growing it. I like to leave them out of direct strong light...

The gang is all here. A Papa Dreadie is barely showing in the upper right. I was away for the weekend. Guess they didn't need me. Some of these are big enough to go into their 3" pots. I'll make up about 27 out of these and give about half away. Still haven't gotten my TFMs on dirt. jjj

Still can barely believe it, but yesterday I spied some li'l poppers under the pepperdome. On day 7, the Beth Boyd Bonnet, Charipita, and a Yaki Blue Fawn were breaking ground. I've never had success spouting Charapita, hence a desire to start early. SInce it is now officially the second...

That looks like what the doctor ordered. Great price for a whopping 3amps. Lead length on the fans might be checkes to make sure they reach your desired position. You make to get creative if the air movement is too high. - a baffle of some sort. jjj

Older fans seem to be more power hungry, but still. Make sure your DC wall-wart meets the fan requirement; mine are 12v. The amp ratings will determine how many the transformer will turn on. My fans are rated 0.09amps each. My wall-wart is 1 amp. So, 5 fans x 0.09amps = 0.45amps, 1amp -...

Another bumper crop of misery and anguish, here's to a productive 2023.

The first step to becoming a happy psychopath, is admitting to yourself how much you really enjoy it. 2023, cheers! jjj

Operator error. Try as I might to keep order, the inner chaos speaks last. Somehow I thought I had planted from the wrong container and only discovered the correct container as I was putting containers away. So I could very well have a cup of cuckoos when all said is done.:) But since...

I have no formal training in electricity, but I have been shocked. A few years back I got a wild hare to build an analog synthesizer. I bought 3rd-party PCBs and studied discrete components (resistors, capacitors, etc) and learned a bit of soldering as I went. The project was near testing when...

NOW, they are starting to grow. 4 days growth from the previous post. Also, in doing some pre-spring cleaning, I'm re-mounting some fans I used on my baby orchids a couple of years ago. Not sure one fan this size will be adequate for baby plants on an 18x48inch shelf. The fans need a...

    JJJessee 2023

I opted for a 3x3 deep pot to re-shod my baby manzanos. Hopefully they will need a gallon pot by late March. They seem very slow, but at least they have some true leaves. They did transition well. I'm not wild about the lightness in the coloration. I do see some tiny pubes with enlargment...

    JJJessee 2023

Hey, Rata. I started about a a decade ago logging my own saved seeds, purchased seeds, and traded seeds -especially peppers and tomatoes. After a few years out of gardening , I've built-out about 20 raised beds since moving to our new place in 2020 for general gardening, herbs and flowers. I...

Coties in the air. 4 of 6 seeds sprouted in 12 days; not bad for a manzano I think. I left the dome off the tray overnight and they were getting toasty dry. Small-cell sprouting trays are not forgiving. Soil is just some left-over potting mix I've made. For what it's worth.... I've made...
