    review Nigel`s New Reviews - 2020 edition

Ok friends and colleagues, I guess I'm back. I`ll pause for all the blaspheming and puking at this point.................   After a few years of life getting in the way, I will be doing more reviews later this summer. I have a number lined up that I expect to light me up like Christmas at...

One of my favourites - CGN 23255

I love this plant - CGN 23255.    It`s a C.chinense from Brazil that has very small round, pretty hot red berries. And up to 16 flowers per node!!! I can`t find a photo of the pods, but you get the idea!

    chinense Yellow Carolina Reaper

Ok, I cannot vouch for what these are, but I enjoyed growing them and they look great. I got the seeds labelled as Yellow Reaper from someone in Italy last Christmas. Plants were very robust, but not very productive, which is what I see with Reapers whenever I grow them. Chris Phillips grew out...

    Pimenta de Neyde x Bubblegum 7-pot, F1

I was given 5 seeds of this cross and 3 germinated. The cross was made by Michael Pfentner in up-state New York.    Out of those 3, one plant gave purple spotted pods and one was better at showing a bleeding calyx and stem. The plants had similar amounts of purple foliage, but were nowhere near...

    chinense Chocolate Reaper cross, F2

Here`s one of the best phenotypes from my Chocolate Reaper cross. It`s Reaper x chocolate superhot,  I like it as it is nothing like a Reaper.   I have 3 different phenotypes to take forward to F3, 2 of which have tails. As for this one, "is it hot, you ask?" See the review below.      ...

    Wes Lane`s CGN21500 x Bubblegum 7-pot

Wes recently sent me pods of this F1 cross. Beautiful pods that have the flavours of CGN21500, mostly, and are a LOT hotter. Crappy photo,  but they got eaten so fast it`s all I took  :P

    Christopher Phillips Leukemia Fund

It`s been a long time since I was last here. I`m posting because we now have a live site on Donationto.com, to benefit our good friend Christopher Phillips.    On 11/4/15 Chris was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This is a very serious cancer that affects the formation of...

chinense Chocolate Carolina Reaper cross - F1 generation.

Last year I took Carolina Reaper seeds from a number of long-tailed Reaper pods. I grew them out this year and one plant had Chocolate pods, but with no tails. It is obviously a cross, not a Chocolate Carolina Reaper. Still, that`s interesting, at least to me!    The aroma was clearly from a...

chinense Carolina Reaper cross - Chocolate!

I took Reaper seeds from long-tailed pods last year and grew them out this year. From a few different growers. Anyway, one plant has Chocolate pods. The plant is weak and not very productive, but I will try to overwinter and clone.   The aroma and flavour are suggestive of 7-pot douglah, BUT the...

chinense OMFG!!! Yellow Moruga Scorpion Cross from Mr Hill - extreme heat warning!

A truly wonderful pepper sent to me by Mr Hill.    The seeds came from a Yellow Moruga Scorpion pod, so it obviously crossed with something red. The clear answer is a Bhut or Naga type, given the shape. Most likely a Naga.   The initial aromas were sweet and fruity, with that particular aroma...

chinense TSMB x Orange Habanero - from Phearis

Check this link first,   http://thehotpepper.com/topic/50492-the-orange-moruga-scorpion/?hl=phearis#entry1059066   The pod was a lovely orange colour in the above link, but when it arrived at my house it was already red. It`s hard to know why the big change, so late in the day.   This lovely pod...

chinense The Bicouglah TM F1 - 7-pot Douglah x Bhut Indian Carbon

Thanks to Chris Phillips for the name and trademarking it for me! I initially called this the Biclah, but I defer to cmpman1974!   And yes, the name is a joke!!!   This is a cross I made last year. My very first successful one! Both parents were extremely hot and typical of the varieties.   The...

Capsicum lanceolatum - another rare wild species!

Huge thanks go out to John Lackey for the pods and the photo of the flower. Also thanks to Vidal Contreras for the photo of the C.lanceolatum plant. Check out the 2 different kinds of leaf!   This species was thought to be extinct for 50 years, until being rediscovered in 1991. It is still...

The Chocolate 7-pot Bubblegum - hot and nasty!

A beautiful-looking pod from John Lackey, thanks a lot Mate!   I had a bit of a head cold when I ate this, so was feeling a bit like I needed waking up. Oh yeah, this did the trick alright, then it kicked me in the nuts just for fun.    The initial flavor was excellent. I never ever thought I`d...

chinense Coyote Zan White - a very rare C.chinense variety

A beautiful pod sent to me by Pr0dial_son. Thanks John!!!   Yes, I refer to it as the Coyote Zen White throughout. It just matched my mood at the time!!! Ommmmm. LOL.   Look here for more photos and discussion of this very rare variety,  ...

    The Aji Teapot - Yellow

This one was sent to me by Jim O`Conner. The seeds were from AjiJoe, who originated the Aji Teapot strain. I reviewed the original Aji Teapot last year (see below) and this Yellow version is new.   This is another pepper with delicious, fresh and citrusy aromas. Although thought to be either a...

The Ma Wiri Wiri from Guyana - Delicious!!!

Many thanks to Jim O`Conner for sending these wonderful pods!   The Ma Wiri Wiri or just Wiri Wiri pepper comes from the country of Guyana and is an undomesticated C.chinense. The small red pods can are usually round, but can be slightly elongated, too.   The aromas of this pepper were...

Many thanks to Cappy at Pepper Ridge Farm and also to Mike Christensen!   Contact Cappy via THP. His user name is Pepper Ridge Farm.    Wow, what a sauce?!?!?!? This is a pure Brain Strain mash, fermented for 3 months, then blended with pineapple, carrot, onion, garlic, brown sugar, lime...

    Eat it, Mr President!

This is without a doubt the smallest C.chinense I`ve ever come across. The plant is covered in pods that are the same size.    CGN 20800. Seeds from Judy at Pepperlover.com
