is it bad? does it spread?

I had a similar thing a while ago. I kinda ignored mine for a while and it spread thru half my crop. To remedy the situation i removed the infected leaves bagged em and binned em. Wash you hands before touching the plants again after this. I then sprayed plants with liquid copper as per...

seeds Jiffy pellets, poor germination rates

Sounds to me like its too hot. I get the best results when inside my little dome germinating thingy is about 30C. Put it in the shade maybe? My anuums have normally all hooked by the 10 day mark but chinenses can take a fair while longer. I normally call it done at 4 weeks unless I got something...

    Leaf issue

Mate, that looks like broad mites to me. Cut em back like pepperlover says, and get some lime sulphur and spray the leaves and stem upside and down. Not the most pleasant smelling stuff mind you, so stay up wind whilst spraying. Follow up with another spray about 7 days later to make sure. Good...

How r ur peppers going in Perth west oz?

I have a cgn23209 (which is very similar to the aji panca), and the caterpillars absolutely love em. Pretty much leaving the rest of my plants alone. They leave a 3mm entrance hole go in eat the placenta then chew another hole out and move on to the next chilli. Its a prolific plant and I have...

Need help on pepper leaf shriveling. Not Growing normally

Looks like they need to be moved into something a little bit roomier. Try potting them up a few sizes dude. Bigger pot with some good quality sheep poo added should see them happier. Kinda looks like their may be too much moisture as well. My 2 cents, hope it helps.

    bleeding calyx

I am growing a blondie at the moment. The calyx turns (bleeds) from green to ivory yellow on mine. I have been taking it as a sign that they are ripe cause it only happens on the ripe pods. I wish my pimenta de neyde did the same.

harvesting rocoto/manzano harvest time in Australia

Bags and bags of good looking fruit there. I have to this day never tasted any pubescens at all, but I think that may change soon. I have 4 growing at the moment and 3 of them have set fruit. Being in brisbane I guess the climate is not ideal. But after I moved them in underneath some shady...

How long can a plant stay rootbound?

I have quite a few root bound plants. The thing I have noticed with them is that it eventually gets to a point where the water does not penetrate through into the centre of the root ball. I give them a 10-15 minute soak by sinking the pot in a bucket of water and they are generally good for...

    best producing chinense?

I totally agree. After reading reviews about citrussy taste etc, i was sold and grew a plant. Lemon in colour yes, prolific yes, citrus taste absolutely not. They have a flavour at the very bottom of the scale for bacatuums in my opinion. Dont get me wrong I love some bacatuums but this chilli...

cloning Is an aeroponic system effectively the same as a cloning system

Hi Sarge. Dont know much about those two systems but whenever I break a branch off and i want to keep it, I pretty much treat it the same way as taking a cutting from a rose bush. Cut on a 45 degree angle just below a node, cut the branch to about 200mm long, remove all fully formed leaves, be...

    Unwell plants

When I use Epsom Salts as a foliar spray I dont get a salty residue. Maybe the solution is too strong. Kinda looks like burn of the salty kind to me. Stop force feeding em for a while.

    Seeds Intercepted by Homeland Security

With it getting close to christmas maybe now is the best time to import seeds. The mail centres will be overwhelmed. Well thats what I am hoping anyway cos I got 24 species hopefully in transit right now. Half wilds and half chinenses. Have they really banned chinense here? Im going to have to...

    shopping Products to provide calcium

I suspected some of mine were calcium deficient and bought some calmax from a hydro shop in noosa. 2 weeks after first application and the new growth is looking really good. You get about 100 watering cans worth from 1 litre. The noosa shop was the cheapest by far. Google it, if your interested.

    Mycorrhizal Fungi

Very good read. I have had a hard time finding mychorizal fungi for sale down here in australia, but have been brewing quick cook batches of aact, which I believe is a more fungal brew. And my patch seems to be enjoying it. Thanks for sharing this info, it straightened out a lot of which I did...

    Freak of nature

Sarge, I had a capsicum grow like that last year, I pretty much left it alone for like 6 months and it kept growing all weird, then I repotted it and it came good. In retrospect Im thinking it may have been ph of soil blocking nutrients, calcium in particular.
