I like freezing best and from there sauces then powder.  Frozen pods keep all the options open but eating fresh.   I have a dehydrator you can borrow if you want nzchilli.  I got it off trademe for drying peppers a year or 2 ago.  It is kinda old school but has 5 trays and adjustable heat.  I...

It is pretty cool I had a chance to be on the flaming flora videos.  Hopefully Sentencedtoburn does an NZ tour to break in the 253 and a few further afield guest appearances shake out:)   How were your burgandys other than the colour?  I haven't grown them but the reviews make them sound really...

Sentencedtoburn put a video together of our pod sampling from this arvo. It was an interesting result,   http://youtu.be/PDjzmaNagEk

Swampy, your pods are nuts.  I'd sell my soul to be able to grow pods like that. Is the chocolate bhut very productive, compared say to the red?

Very interested in how your system works out.   I looked into this a while ago.  Basically I wanted to use a native fish that I could eat but to do it legally required a lot of paperwork and licensing costs.  Both salmon and trout were out, I can't remember what else I looked at... maybe eels. I...

    The Great Kiwi Pepper Thread

I just tried my first Primo today.  It was a small pod about the length from the tip of my finger to the first knuckle.  I chopped it in half and could smell it and see the oil.  I thought since it was so small in might have been a bit less hot than a larger pod so chewed up half of it.  Nuclear...

Hahaha, no.  She must have missed my email.  I will ask again.   I have previously had good experiences at Palmers.  This time was terrible and not only were they not able to identify the culprit the suggested cure was more watering.  Apparently the dry pods have less resistance to keeping the...

Ninja edits.. :shh:   I wrote to Judy of Pepperlover.  I asked if she might do a phytosanitary cert if we cover the cost and her time and place a significant order. We should know by tomorrow.

Thanks for the response FireFlyNZ.  Booked in with Palmers in Remuera for a consult tomorrow. Are they common in NZ?  I can't find any information on it really.  Absolutely spewing as I have had a relatively pest free run until now.

I was sent the black mamas by a member on here from Germany.  MPI did notify me they had the seeds and told me they would incinerate them.   It is weird, there must be a switch in the brain that one day flicks on and after that all you can think about, taste and smell has to do with chillies  ...

I would leave the reapers personally.  There is no point getting a shipment of 1 packet of seeds which could get you the letter (put you on notice). After the letter it might become very hard to get seeds in. I have some reaper seeds from Semillas you can have, It is also my opinion that MPI...

Glog of small things - Now with pods

I can't take your only seed!  How about if it grows well for you you save me a couple seeds from a pod?   I have noticed I only really order from Semillas and Pepperlover.  Basically if they don't stock it I give up.  I should start to hunt a little further afield.

Thanks for the kind words.  I have not had any Psyllid issues yet but time will tell... they are certainly present.   I am super keen on trying the Turbo pube. I tried a Rocoto de Seda the other day and was very very impressed.  It probably wasn't that hot but the juicy pod got the heat...

Awesome, will be great to catch up.  I tried the white bhut and the infinity left over from my visit.   The white bhut had no visible oil and almost no placenta.  It looked pretty tame so I tried a good size bit of it and wasn't very impressed.  Very little flavour and little heat.  I would say...

tutorial Beginner's guide to AACT/Compost Tea

Could you provide more info on the smell to look for?  My second batch smelled like molasses at the end slightly.  I wondered it the meant all the available molasses wasn't used?   My pump does 400L per hour.  I am basically limited to 2 gallon brews and start by dosing the water with air for...
