    Cayenne leaves rolling

Hi all,   I am running hydroponic system for the first time... I am seeing some odd behavior in a cayenne plant that is in the setup.   As you can see if the pics below, the leaves are rolling under at the edges.  Is it over feeding?  The reservoir is sitting at 800 ppm right now but I fear the...

hydroponic How to start your own hydroponic pepper grow

Thanks for the advice! The pH control kit I linked actually comes with the test solution as well. I will make a note to ensure that it does. The way I am controlling temps right now is a reverse lighting schedule. Lights are off during the heat of the day and on during the night. I agree...

Seedlings started in full sun can handle full sun.  You may have to harden off seedlings started inside.

hydroponic How to start your own hydroponic pepper grow

Hi all,   I have browsed these forums for quite a long time and used the information that I have gathered to start my first hydroponic grow.   I contemplated putting this in the GLog section, but I don't plan on making the focus of this thread about how my plants are progressing.  I want to give...

seeds My seedlings died on the sun in only 1h!

Future, Most people start indoors to extend growing time. You don't want night time temps any lower than 65-70 degrees. You can start seeds indoors while the night time lows are still in the 40s and have a decent sized plant when the temps rise to acceptable ranges

    Leaf problem?

Nutrients may not be available due to them not being present or due to them being locked out as a result of a pH imbalance.  If they don;t respond to a little bit of food don't keep throwing it at them.   If it seems to be related to just one of your potting mixes I would just transplant and...

    8W lightning sufficient?

CFL stands for compact fluorescent.  Standard lightbulb for lamps and overhead lights looks like this: https://christopherfountain.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/sylvania-cfl-bulb.jpg

seeds Just started seeds with heat mat and humidity dome.....

I use a meat thermometer and just stick it into the soil, seems to read pretty accurate and dirt cheap too.   From reading your original post I would say it sounds like you are absolutely on the right track.  Just be sure that if you are growing any hot varieties to keep that soil temp at 80-85...

    Leaf problem?

Are you growing in soil?  I have seen this problem in hydroponics when the pH is off... still could be a pH problem in the soil.   If you are growing in soil, what specifically?  Something from the hardware store or the backyard?

Is there any way to help buds turn into flowers?

The plant looks great.  As stated by others, the problem could be a number of things.  Too much or too little water, too much or too little nutes, too high or too low temps.  I would just stay disciplined in making sure that you are remaining consistent in your treatment of the plants, sticking...

    8W lightning sufficient?

Hey future,   I had great luck starting seedlings under CFLs in the little round silver spotlight setups.   They look like this: http://www.hydrofarm.com/i/jpg/10484_26060.jpg   You can find them cheap at a hardware store, you can move and position them easily, and you can buy more slowly if...

seeds My seedlings died on the sun in only 1h!

Also remember to try and not "love them to death".  Micro-management is not needed and causes more harm than good.  Patience is a virtue in growing especially.  It took a lot of time and even more self control for me to learn this lesson. As stated here, once they are out of the dirt, take the...

seeds My seedlings died on the sun in only 1h!

If you're only going to have them out there for an hour at a time you don't need to worry about protecting them from anything. Once they are big enough to stay out longer.. you won't need to protect them from anything. Remember: plants like these have been growing without tender loving care...

seeds My seedlings died on the sun in only 1h!

You need to take the lid off your seedling station when you put them outside. I bet it was 100+ degrees in there. I don't think the sun cooked them.. you effectively made an oven.

Lmam, if everything you planted is coming up it might be bad seed. Are you growing other super hots that have germinated successfully?

Two plants in one DWC net pot?

OK thank you.  I had heard that the decaying roots may cause issues.   My thinking is... if each plant produces 60% of what it would have should it have been alone, then I am good to go.  My fear is that each might only produce 30% or so of what it might have.   I know if this was dirt I would...

seeds What's going on with my seedling? Can they be saved?

That is a lot of light right on top of those baby plants too.  I would drop them to ~24 inches below the lights at least, and then double check your soil to ensure that it isnt burning them with excessive ph or fertilizer levels

I have had great luck with all peppers using one of two methods.   First,  Place them in a moist paper towel inside a ziplock bag and check every so often to see if they have sprouted.  Ensure that the setup stays at 80-85 degrees.  Transfer the sprouted seedlings to some potting soil (careful...

Two plants in one DWC net pot?

This is my first post here, but long time lurker here.   As shown in the picture below, I have two cayenne peppers growing in one net pot.  Should I trim the small of the two or let them go?
