Couldn't decide on a couple of designs but I found casters so I went with this. I actually drilled a hole through the middle for a 1" rod but changed my mind after looking at pics. The only thing I don't like my wheelbarrow won't fit under, been meaning to get a new smaller dump cart.moruga welder said:i have a plan for one like this in a Birds and BLOOM  book i  got  it will work great ! From what I researched, it's a little faster doing it in a tumbler, and a lot less labor intensive from what I read. The only drawback of this is the amount of compost I can do at one time,30-35 gallons.ajdrew said:Excellent, thank you for sharing. Have a question for you. We aren't really composting anymore cause most goes to critters now. But when we did, each fall we had tons of material left over from canning. I just put it into a pile and flipped occasionally. Your photos show enough property that I imagine there is plenty of room for a compost pile. Are there benefits to doing it in a container over doing it in a pile?
Labor being the flipping part? Ye, if you are doing a lot I can see that if using a shovel. Asked wife because I know her family kept a compost pile on small property. She said they would have loved one to keep the smell down.Canes1 said:From what I researched, it's a little faster doing it in a tumbler, and a lot less labor intensive from what I read. I have 2 1" holes on each side that I originally was going to run a pipe through but I used casters instead. I was thinking of drilling a few more on the sidesSavinaRed said:I bought one and the air ventilation is on the sides of the barrel. Other than that I like it, nice job. See below this is the one I bought.
