Was to try to get them to survive until I see roots out the bottom.
Remember?

I'm hoping they fill out the pot so I can transplant them into a bigger pot

Then I can finish using this pot that is on its last limbs.

I will take your advice on using new soil but,

If I'm going to do that ,
I will use another seed and a different Pot

I decided to eliminate the Periwinkle
But I am keeping the other weed.

I heard rocks used as mulch works for insect repellent.

Well..

It helped in the plant's recovery

Now It doesn't look so bad.
I think the rocks fixed it.

I don't know anything

I've still got all four Zimbabwe bird chillies on my kitchen window sill.........one in 2 litre pot two in 1 litre pot's and the runt in 1/litre pot.

All have "Y"d and have buds but different sized "Y"s

2 litre pot currently the specimen I'll keep........quiet a large "Y"

About to flower

1 litre pot and large "Y"

1 litre pot but much smaller "Y"

The runt in 1/2 litre pot again a small " Y"

I've now got 3 of the 4 Zimbabwe bird chillies in flower

The little Runt has buds but no flowers yet ..................

Nothing remarkable or unusual in the above ..........however this leads me to the reason for today's post two of the plant's have pure white flowers the third is white with purple edges

Two plant's have these beautiful Pure white flowers which I'm assuming is the colour they should be ?

The third plant has these gorgeous purple edged flowers but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't !

Any ideas ? Accidental cross ? Natural variation ?

I'd welcome input

I've seen the Zimbabwe Bird Pepper described as an Annuum, and I've seen it described as a Frutescens.

Annuum flowers are typically white, Frutescens flowers are typically purple-tinged.

That's all I got.

If I use rocks as "mulch", my plants would be toasted. Rocks take up heat, I only use it with a Pachypodium.

The flavour and heat are very similar to frutescens. The texture is somewhat different when ripe though: frutescens are mushy with small seeds and annuum var glabriusculum are thinner-fleshed with large hard seeds.
I used to grow frutescens but found that annuum var glabriusculum is better suited to my climate (temperate) as frutescens is more a subtropical taxon.

Hey @RobStar, I'm going to hijack this thread for a second (sorry @HerbCasa): to your knowledge, would you associate these flowers (small and greenish) to Capsicum frutescens? Not sure what I have here as it was supposed to be a C. chinense. Might also be a cross, IDK...

Hey @Bou that fits in the range of chinense. I wouldn't be concerned, it looks about right.
Capsicum frutescens flowers are really small and the petal margins are somewhat rolled inwards (the petals look like little boats). When you see them you will instantly know!

Some of my Zim birds are going to new homes on Monday

I just noticed the 3 with pure white flowers are all producing upward pointing pod's

But the one with purple edges on the flower's are down facing............

I'm assuming the purple tinge plant is a cross...................

Interesting but I'll probably let it go simply due to space limitations....
