2 Cycle Engine Question

Troy Built weed wacker with 2 cycle engine.  Was running for a while and it quit instantly.  Not like started running bad and died.  Just died suddenly.  The off switch is located horribly and I have hit it by mistake a dozen times.  But it is spring loaded, so cant tell if I hit it.  It is only a month or two old, but during that time noticed that restarting hot is never easy.  So when it did not restart, I went on to other things.  Hours later, the machine was cold.  Followed the steps and it would not start.

Now here is the thing.  I put freshly mixed gas and oil in it today.  The oil is brand new, but I kind of question it.  Bottle gives the ratio of oil to gas, but then claims that at that ratio is is for use in engines that require all these different ratios.

So I am wondering.  Maybe I just flooded the heck out of it, need to pull, clean or replace plug.  But what if I screwed up the oil to fuel mixture.  Too much and I doubt it would have run for the first part of the day.  Too little and what?  Holding a two cycle in my brain, I could see the bearing getting screwed but I think that would make things feel really loose and I am not sure it would stop a thing from running.  Then there are the rings.

I would imagine they would either overheat, loose compression, and die but I doubt suddenly.  I think it would start running horribly and then die.  Not sure.  So I guess my question is has anyone ever run a two cycle without enough oil or without oil.  I am sure it happens so what happens?

Fresh gas? depending on the model you want 40:1. it's easy to get a 1 gal can then all you need to add is one of the single serve 3.2 oz bottles of oil and mix. Also if you don't use a lot of gas you could run trufuel 2 stroke premixed ethanol free gas in it. they have a 40:1 and 50:1, I run ethanol free gas in all my 2 stroke stuff like weed whacker and leaf blower. Pull the plug if its really gummed up your mix is to rich.  cheers

Are you trying to do commercial work with homeowner equipment? If yes, you may have overheated it since the run time is not very long. I would suspect unless you measured, you may have messed up the mix as well. If it is 30 to 60 days old simply carry it back and move on.

Suggest that if you are using gasoline that has ethanol in it that you never leave any gas in the tank or fuel line when the equipment is not going to be used for a few days or longer. This is for lawn mowers, chainsaws, snowblower, weed trimmers etc.
Run the equipment dry of fuel or empty the tank and start the equipment to run fuel out of gas lines.
