2022 Big things happening!

Still a week away from starting the full seasons line up. Figured I’d thoroughly track my season here since I’m doing a couple growouts/comparative grows. This season is mostly going to be for sauce and powder since our freezer is full of frozen chiles still (stays stocked).

Main plants for this season will be:
Piri Piri (7 different sources)
Bangalore Whippets Tail
Numex Suave Orange
Jalapeño
Chocolate Douglah
MustardGum Nagabrain
Habanero El Remo
Saco de Velho

Have others picked out also but will update once I get everything picked out and starting in their trays. First set will be Jan 1st, second set around Jan 18-25.

Seeds dropped in for Purple Thunder and Trippaul Threat to grow out, once they sprout I’ll update to the dedicated glogs for each. Also sowed seeds for Chocolate Jalabanero I’m helping grow out.

This year all Rocotos will be in ground plants since my weather allows for them to be grown as perennials.

Rocotos movin on up! Need to restart 3 varieties cause I didn’t notice the soil I planted them in until after the fact, but still got some great germination. Looking forward to sauces and stuffing these over the summer.

And here we go! Photos of the weekend so far, 2022 off to a great start, Rocotos are up and doing good, plus some other various ransoms. Aerogarden is full of the wife’s seeds and my two trays.

The smaller grayer with the wilds / really rare are in the 6 pack cells, once half of the cells are up I move it off to a different heat mat so I don’t get a bunch of growth on the other cells.

I’ve got 1 more tray to start but waiting on 1 variety to show up so I can grow it out and hand it out like candy.

It’s the Aerogarden with the seed starting deck. The plastic is from the box it was shipped in. I’ll take a picture with it off later on today.

Haven’t used it yet we’ve had it for a year and I forgot about it, so figured great time to use it is now.

Almost, it’s just one large open dome. Nothing individual for the spots.

Everything is coming along nicely! Rocotos will be moved to the greenhouse this weekend, possibly final pots or just to 1gal containers for now.

More moving up from the start trays, these were started in my aerogarden. I personally will never do it again, I had crap germination and wasted a bunch of seeds. The only upside to it is they dwarf the others started in soil at the same time.

Rocotos are moved on outside into the greenhouse, threw another shelf together to put them on. Need to tidy up the shelves and cut the excess wood off, but the greenhouse is slowly coming together.

And some already are putting out flowers.

My Cheiro Roxa army is going strong, love this thing and plan on doing some crosses with some of my other favorites.

And the grow tent!!! The Purple Thunder and Trippaul Threat are doing fantastic!! Need to get another shelf together in the greenhouse to move these out to get their real season started!! Still deciding if I want to use my normal compost mix or go all out for these and order some super soil (need to talk that over with the wife ) but these are the ones that I am looking forward to most!

Been a little bit since last update, didn’t have anything really major. Got the soil mixed up today 50/50 last years soil / new compost, 1:3 ratio of manure and added some rice hulls instead of perlite. And finally got some of the plants going in their final containers!!

All of the Rocotos have been planted, I need them well established before my summer heat hits so they are always the first ones in. And 2 of the varieties I’m super excited about made their appearance in their final homes Trippaul Threat and Purple Thunder!!

Will be planting every other day from here on out updating as I go, probably will take me about 2-3 weeks to do it all since I won’t have help for a couple more months. But this season is already starting out to be epic. Will update Glogs for the grow out peppers, took pictures but don’t remember which is which .
