I got this from a guy bought some seeds from. A very different way to raise lettuce:
Here's how he described his system that he build in Fuji: the hydro-nut uses coconut coir for media and it sucked into the coconut by a 6" piece of bamboo between the coconut and and the bamboo base, the nutrient is poured in one hole at the end of the bamboo base pole , takes 1 1/2 gallons, it is absorbed up into the coconuts in 3 to 4 days. the idea is to create a system to stop the slash and burn farming in the islands...
He also raises Bhuts there as well as in the States for seed.
