Actinic fluorescent lamps

I made this post about a month ago.

As promised, I am posting my obsevations.

I chose two (actually four as both seeds in the coir plug sprouted) Orange Sun Bell pepper plants as the test subjects. They all sprouted on the same day, and were transplanted into equal size pots, both using the same medium. I have tried to maintain the same watering schedule, and both light fixtures are controlled by the same timer. They are now about seven weeks old.

Not the best photos, I know. The ones on the left were grown using the two Actinic lamps with four 6500K lamps.

The ones on the right were grown using six 6500K lamps.

The left plants are slightly taller, have slightly larger leaves, and are a slightly deeper shade of green.

You will notice I say 'slightly'. In my opinion this could all be attributed to differences in the plant genetics.

My conclusion, so far, is that there is no extreme difference between the progession of the plants because of the lighting used.

However, I will say that using the Actinic lamps definitely did not hurt.

By the way, the 6500K lamps are Spectralux and cost ~$10@. The Actinics are Fluval Sea Actinic I and cost ~$18@.
