ads just for me? wtf

So I guess this can be hot talk because the food could be spicy but anyways my question is this:

Does anyone else get the "Food Hoarding for Pennies!!!" ad on THP? I'm guessing its a google ad thing, but I only see it on THP.

THP - Why do you think I'm so poor (or I suppose a doomsday nut)?

"Pepper Hoarding for Pennies" - Now THAT would interest me :)

That's what your browser cookies are about - they let your computer "remember" stuff on the sites you've visited, then Google ads uses those cookies to "serve" you with ads they think might interest you based on the cookies on your computer. Adblockplus - turn it on!

Do you use gmail?

Did you know google scans your emails to send you relevant spam? Ha! Sign up for gmail, start getting spam right away, wonder why as you have not even published that email address. Yup.

And the "reading" part is scary. Who wants ads based on personal emails, let alone, the reading part is violation enough.

It's been like that since the inception of gmail but looks like there is a legal development: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-57604892-38/googles-reading-of-gmail-e-mail-can-be-challenged-judge-rules/

Yeah I knew about that I just thought the ads were funny. Still not sure how google got that though.
I didn't know about the legal development though. Thanks for the link!
