anyone tried earthtainers

Has anyone ever tried growing peppers in the "earthtainer" things there are instructions for on the internet? Seems they would keep the dirt a little wetter than the peppers would like, but then again they grow in hydro systems.

I've not tried using them yet, but I am getting ready to build one.
I had planned on using it for a few pepper plants.
I hoped to make a smaller version, instead of the 31 gal version.
That way I could easily bring it in over the winter.

Does anyone think that the potting mix will stay too wet for the peppers?

I made 2 of these this season for my tomatoes. One out of the rubbermaid containers (22 gallon), and one out of 2 - 5 gallon home depot buckets. I have the healthiest, biggest plants I have ever grown. Tomatoes love lots of water. I believe that peppers would do well in these containers also. I will be trying some next season. You can regulate the soil moisture by not adding water to the system as often. Just don't let the soil completely dry out and it will continue to function properly. If you plan on letting the soil dry out a bit then a moisture meter would be helpful. In my research I have seen pictures of healthy pepper plants growing in earth boxes. Based on the success of my tomatoes I am already looking forward to next season so I could try it out on some peppers.

I'll probably pick up one or 2 of these sometime in a week now that my sprouts are outdoors. I have an area in the back of the raised planter that gets tons of heat, but hard to reach for watering. I'll post some picks and keep updates once it's setup and ready.
