...something else?  This is my first season, and these are the first pods on two plants I have marked as Scorpions (chocolate, and yellow).  I was expecting stingers now, or do they come later?  Correct shape??

Its tough to say, a lot of super hot pods vary in shape until it has produced a lot of pods. It could be a cross or miss labeled. Only time will tell for sure. The waiting game continues! The bottom pod somewhat resembles a 7 pot Brainstrain to me.

My red scorpions have stingers on about 70% of the pods.     Others looks much like your pics especially the early ones.

yea i think the butch T version was designed to always have a nice stinger so i guess they dont always have them

my yellow scorpion have about 10% of the pods looking like that, the rest have a tail. I would wait and see.
