Blight near peppers?

I had 2 tomato plants that I just removed because they were dying in the last week. I thought they had blight. They were touching pepper plants but the peppers are fine. Also the tomatoes themselves were fine as well. Any ideas what this was or why the peppers are safe so far?

the blight that took my tomatos out has not effected my Bhuts/Dorsets and they are intertwined now...

The blight is on tomatoes only. It doesn't harm other plants. If you have the blight, you should not plant tomatoes in the same spot for three years.
