Can someone help identify this new weed?

Can anyone help identify this weed?  It is new to our community gardens within the past 2 years, and is spreading like wildfire.  It gets a yellow flower on a tall stalk, the mature plant being about 18" tall.  We have quite a few gardeners from India and Bhutan, and I'm wondering if it might be something brought in.  Gardeners who have been here for 15 years have not seen it before last year.
 
 
 
I don't recognize it. But it looks like a fairly immature plant. Can you get a full size plant pic?
If it is a non-native it may be difficult to eradicate if it gets a foot hold.
Can you tell if it's perennial in your area or just spread by seeds?

I'm going to assume you're not talking about these, the ones that grow from giant bulbs?  Right, not these?  Colocasia is the name..

No I'm not even sure the proper name for them. I guess theres a lot of varieties that people call "elephant ear" but the ones I get look almost exactly like that and will take over my yard super quick if I don't stay on top of them. I just did my yard yesterday otherwise I would try to get a pic.

I dunno could be. Distribution is right. Flower color is right. from the op description it sounds like it might be taller and has a "stalk" wich doesn't match the green and gold.

Thanks for the effort, but it's not quite right.  My weed is taller, leaner in foliage and the blossom is smaller, maybe 1/2" across.  More "weedy."
 
My weed finally has a name.
 
There's a really interesting plant-identifier site (https://gobotany.newenglandwild.org/simple/).  As I've been faithfully pulling them as I come across them in my gardens, I never came across a mature plant, which gets really tall, up to 7 feet.  It is:
