Can this work? Florescent tube question.

I have a florescent tube fixture right now that is holding T12 tubes. Is it possible to put in T5 tubes as replacements? Are the connections different or/also would the wattage be an issue?

No. 12's work in 12's, 8's in 8's, and 5's in 5's

I had a feeling that was how it worked, thanks for clearing that up... and for not laughing at my ignorance.

The ballast is different and the tubes are different lengths, and the pins on the ends are different- T12 is medium bi-pin and T5 is small bi-pin. You can usually use T12 tubes in T8 fixtures and sometimes T8 in T12, but usually the T12 ballast is old and too worn out for the work.
