Capsazepine: The Cheater's Edge?

While doing some searches on different capsaicinoids, I came across a synthetic substance created in the mid '90s called Capsazepine.

Capsazepine was made by altering the backbone molecule structure of capsaicin.

What makes Capzepine interesting is that it's an antagonist to capsaicin.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsazepine

Being a capsaicin antagonist means that this compound is able to block the painful burning sensation caused by capsaicin.

What? Capsazepine blocks the burn? Hmmmmmm....

So what if one was to take some Capsazepine prior to entering a Hot Wings Eating Challenge?

Would that person have an unfair advantage over their fellow competitors by being impervious to the heat and the subsequent pain?

What if some one wanted to pound back 70 or 80 Bhut Jolokias and then just for the fun of it rub twenty or thirty raw Bhuts into their eyes?

I'm not saying she did, but I'm just saying what if...

If this compound does indeed work, and the Material Data Sheets say " The material has NOT been classified as "harmful by ingestion". ", might this compound not start showing up in competition?

http://datasheets.scbt.com/sc-201098.pdf

I can see it now, future competitors in the Hot,Fiery Food-eating Competitions having to submit a urine test sample just to prove that they are clean from using any performance enhancing substances.;)

But as the Cheater's Motto goes, "If you're not cheating, you're not trying".

I never knew something like this exsisted, it'll sure make you wonder when it comes to some chile compition or record...this makes me wonder what about the guinness world record for the India lady that ate some extreme numbers of bhut pods

that's interesting. i can't cheat on the reviews though. the pain is part of the experience. if i ate 20 or 30 bhuts i'd crap myself inside out!LOL.

I'm pretty confident that that lady had no help. She was genetically bred to eat those peppers.

If it subdues the pain goig in, it will when going out. Won't help you in the long run when your colon melts down your leg from it's radioactive meal.....

Genetically bred.....I know some people I know are highly sensitive to the point of not being able to build a tolerance to capsaicin, others like my chiropractor are allergic to it. I have heard of people that don't even register the capsaicin because they don't have what is needed.
