chinense Carolina Reaper Has the Record Again?

Smoking egg curry. Lol. Anyway, the reaper has different taste profiles then the 7 pot. What he made or stole is new and should be treated as such. If you make an innovation onto an idea its still a new idea. What he did might have been despicable and he got away with it but give him a chance, hes not always an arse.
 
I think what we are seeing with the reaper, is the same as what happened with the Dorset naga. They came across some seeds ( in an Indian market), planted them (oh what lovely rain in Dorset!) and then renamed them. There was no breeding involved, they simply came across a gem and exploited it.

The Dorset Naga is just a Naga Morich that was selected for high production and to grow well in the Brit climate. Yes, it's cheesy as hell to act like it's a new pepper, but I don't see the Sea Spring ppl trying to trademark the Dorset Naga, or threatening to sue growers for trading seeds/plants.

Ed is awfully protective of what he stole. It's pathetic.
 
I think people want the controvery because it allows them to pretend peppers are more important than they actually are.

I think some ppl ignore the controversy because it allows them to pretend ethics are less important than they actually are.

This isn't specifically about chiles. This would apply to anything being bought, sold, or traded. I prefer not to support a-holes and d-bags with my custom, when it can be avoided.

Maybe you're different than that?
 
I also enjoy Woody Allen movies, Bill Cosby's show and stand-up, Michael Jackson's music....

I enjoy art (and food, apparently) separate from the artist or grower.
 
So, do you think that ppl were concerned about the Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, and MJ scandals because they wanted to believe that movies, comedy, and music are more important than they actually are?

And do you think that the misdeeds allegedly committed by those men are somehow unimportant?

I get it that you might think the implications are somewhat important, but you're gonna watch/listen anyway... But let's not trivialize how important the maintenance of ethics is to a civil society.

The Dorset Naga does have plant breeders’ rights and a registered trademark logo after its name. It IS trademarked, they just don't seem to care to enforce it.
Ed on the other hand, well, assuming the likely Primo origin is correct, he knows how easy it is to steal a variety from experience.

I think you're referencing the wrong artists, this was more of a Milli Vanilli situation.
 
They had the same early seeds and each stabilized them. Doesn't the fact that separate people stabilized it to their own liking make the end product a bit different?

Unless he got the seeds when it was almost stable. Then that's pretty fucked up. Either way, they seem different to me. Primos don't wreck my stomach as much.

Troy Primeaux is the owner of Primos Peppers. So he is actually benefiting and profiting from the primo.
