seeds Cayenne - no ribs, no seeds, no heat

Took these two off the same plant



Smaller had no ribs, no seeds, and was almost like a red bell in sweetness with no heat. Larger had ribs, seeds, and good kick for a cayenne.



Both were ripe. Any idea what happened? I'm thinking lack of seeds maybe had something to do with pollination but it's just a wild guess.

Probably just got damaged when it was young, or the pollen was infertile when it was fertilized. The plant can make a pepper without pollen, but it can't make healthy seeds.

My cayennes first harvest was a mish mash of similar pods. Second flower set was alot better. We'll see with the third. Logged temps with flowering since we've had alot of heat waves to see if it has direct impact on pods.
