I was thinking about a Central and South Florida Pow Wow. Frydad and I have talked about it a couple of times. Problem is finding a good location. I think the best would be some kind of a Camping area that has some Cabins for rent too for those who don't have trailers or do the tent thing or just need more facilities. But, I think it would be great.

Not sure where to find campsites with cabins. Lake Dorr and Sweetwater Springs in Ocala National Forest seemingly have one each, and they are supposedly big, which means $$$. And appearently have a year long waiting list and a lottery just to book them. If we REALLY need cabins, I think we are better off holding this at someone's house.
I'm more for the tent camping. There are plenty of those with facilities in Ocala National Forest. Some with showers. I think that's about as far north as SoFlo is willing to travel. I'm not privy to anything good in between here and there, but there's likely to be something perfect that I just don't know about.
Maybe something around Lake Kissimmee? Just a thought. I don't know much about it.

Have to agree with Sum. Take a look at the Ocala National Forest (ONF) website. It is prety central to all of Florida, well except maybe for the pahhandle area.
With reguard to the cabin issue, I was just thinking about those that might have family that have special needs and woould be more comfortable in one. I'm sure that there are hotels close enough to the ONF that they would work and maybe more reasonable.

Fore Lake campground in ONF is not too far away from Ocala. Take the 314 north off 40. Within reasonable distance of hotels in Ocala.
If we could find something around Lake Kissimmee, or general area, that would cut about an hour+ off the SoFlo travel.... might even be less distance from Orlando and Dade City than Ocala. I'm WAY more familiar with ONF though.

remember we can allaways do a camp out at my place!
ocala is like a hour and half north of me. so is anyone wanting to do a little get together or should i chalk this in the trash?? you are more than welcome to camp on my ranch i will supply porta potties. and there are hotels 15 minutes from my place that are nice. and one that is not so nice 5 minutes from my place,lol. this is just a little get together not the festival my wife is working on with the county.
