seeds Chenzo pepper & seeds ?

Here is a photo of a couple of my Chenzo peppers.
I did not get a bountiful crop from the one plant I grew this year.
Only about a dozen pods and many of them are just starting to turn black.
They will, if given time and the right conditions turn red.
My question is:  Would the seeds be viable at this stage (black) or is it best to collect seeds after they are fully ripened to red?

Give the pod a chance to ripen. Don't refrigerate, just keep on the counter somewhere and see if it turns red.
