Chile Flowers

Hi Guys,

As well as growing chiles for the pods, Im also growing many varieties just for the flowers. Some varieties are absolutely stunning.

Wow! The Manzano is awsome! I want to grow that now....I must make space somewhere for that one... I also want that Brazilian Starfish.

The Explosive Ember looks like a Bolivian Rainbow Chilli flower, nice.

Hi imaguitargod,

if you think the Brazilain Starfish flower is nice (you can certainlty tell its a Baccatum), you should see the wierd pods.

The plants also grow huge (its the one at the back):

Am I misunderstanding you, or are these flowers edible???

It's been my experience that most things are edible, it's just wether or not you get any nutrients out of it that's the question. :D

I agree, you could eat them I supose if you wanted too but it would be like eatuing paper. I guess they would make a nice garnish I suppose. It would certainly beat a bit of floppy parsley.

After looking at your pictures, I'm curious about a plant I have. I picked it up at a community plant sale for $2. The tag that came with it says it's a rocatilo. I cannot find any info on that plant. So the name is probably incorrect. It's first flower bloomed a couple of days ago. Here's a pic of that flower:

It looks like the brazilian starfish bloom. But maybe not...what do you think?

Hey darlochileman, thanks for the info! I'd seen that name before, but didn't realize that it was so close the plant I have, or that the name fit in two different species. I look forward to seeing the fruit...
