If you buy dried pods, just use the seeds from those, they are usually grown in large fields of single varieties and are non-hybrid. Also it is cheaper for them to dry them in the plentiful Mexican sun, so seeds are usually still viable. Have you used the spelling "Pulla", it is the same as "Puya" and pronounced the same.
