Chilli cacti

I suspect no-one has tried it.  0.1 of a gram, around 1/50th of a teaspoon contains the heat equivalent of 20 bhut jolokias (based on 5g ea at 1,000,000SHU).  But you wouldn't have a sweet cooling effect of the mass of the mild bhuts, it would all be concentrated on a very very small part of your tongue. I suspect it would damage you somewhat.  Interestingly for the pleasure you would be paying about $3400USD for that amount of lab prepared Resiniferatoxin.

I wonder if any chilli headed heat freak had tried this?

Though not from a chilli it is still caspicum related.
I`ve got the sap of the Euphorbia plant where it`s found on my hands a few times. It hurts like hell, burns extremely badly and leaves painful blisters. I would never, ever, ever put the sap near my face. Ever.

unfortunately, i had euphorbia's sap on my fingers and unfortunately in my right eye. Worst 15 minutes ever. My eye was red for two days. Stil grow euphorbias but handle ONLY with gloves.

God, I can`t imagine how painful that must have been. I still grow lots of Euphorbias, too, but as you say, handle with gloves.

I like Ted`s reviews a lot, but Resiniferatoxin isn`t anywhere near as toxic as he says. A lethal dose in humans would be 30-40g for someone around 175lbs.

However, the point he is making is entirely valid. You`d have to be a complete lunatic with no sense of reality to try some of this stuff.

1/1000th of a gram would run you about $120, but it would be difficult to buy it as a regular citizen, you`d have to be working in a lab, really.

In fact, it is in clinical trials as a pain-killer,
