Confused By Colour

Hi, wondered if anyone could help. I bought a scotch bonnet fruit from the supermarket and used its seeds. The plant has grown well and Italy fruited green. They have now turned a deep purple. I thought they ended up red or yellow. Ive attached a pic thanks.

The flavour was like a distant aftertaste of a sweet pepper with a very thin skin. There was absoluy no heat to it at all, sadly.

Congratulations!

You seem to have come across an interesting new cross!

It's interesting that the pepper has no heat, and apparently no strong Habanero/Chinense flavor (correct?)

If the parent was a Scotch Bonnet, I would have expected an F1 to exhibit the heat of a Habanero even if it crossed with a heatless pepper.

This pepper seems to be full of surprises!
